Guest
Armenian Music Awards a success Producer says this year's show was best ever. By CLAUDIA PESCHIUTTA GLENDALE -- Instead of enjoying the success of this year's Armenian Music Awards, show producer Peter Bahlawanian is already thinking of ways to make the annual Alex Theatre event even better. The third annual awards ceremony brought hundreds of people out to The Alex on Friday night to see some of the world's most well-known Armenian musicians perform. "We wanted to put on a show that would interest anybody, from any culture and I think we achieved it," said Bahlawanian, the show's founder. Organized by the Armenians in Music and Film Assn., the show included performances by artists from Argentina to Armenia to Australia. Among the several awards given out Friday evening, Best Male Vocalist went to Georgi Minassian and Best Female Vocalist to Shoushana Petrossian. Aram Assatryan was voted favorite singer by the public. Bahlawanian said he is "extremely happy" with this year's show, which was sold out. "I know the show is effective when people are arguing about who won and who lost," he said. "We have caused a serious commotion in the Armenian community." But Bahlawanian wants next year's show to be even better. "We're going to have to top it," he said. More information about the awards is available on the Internet at: www.armenianmusicawards.com.
