New Byzantium Project

First, the idea of the New Byzantium is not mine. It has to be credited to two British scholars.

They somehow believe that restoration of Byzantium will bring back happiness and prosperity for Byzantine nations.

Mine is slightly different.

The need for creation of New Byzantium is dictated by the understanding that the Western Civilization has been hijacked by Barbarian Anglo-Saxons and other culturally less developed tribes. In the post modern world, the core values of the Western civilization, such as freedom of speech, freedom of consciousness, and number of other basic freedoms have been twisted to a degree that their substance has been tarnished. Corporate and national interests have created their own powerful tools for manipulation under the guise of free press. Freedom of speech is now limited in most “democratic” countries and often replaced by concerns of public safety and security. Corporate interests hardly can pass the test of “private interest”, since the blending of private and public through set of mechanisms in the electoral political process defaced the very idea of free and democratic elections. The justice system has been transformed into mechanism that aims at seeking remedy for the wrongdoing without taking into account and studying or examining neither the wrong nor the doer. There are number of other concerns that simply cry out for change but I’ll stop here.

Why New Byzantium? It is not envisioned as some kind of political, religious, military, economic or anything alike union. New Byzantium is simply a concept that seeks to re-establish, re-enforce and re-introduce the system of values that led to the zenith of Byzantium, where the focal point is the human life and the well-being of homo sapiens as the most cherished value and a gift from the Creator. The base for this moral code is the Orthodox faith striped off the dogma and the religious pretence. Thus, it is not a guide book or collection of rules for personal and public behavior, rather adherence to principles that the human society accepted and maintained throughout the centuries.

New Byzantium is borderless and open and her only goal is to take us back to the common sense and decency, lost somewhere between a cup of Coca-Cola and tasteless McDonalds’.
