The plane, a Canadair CRJ-100, was heading for Minsk, Belarus, when it flipped over on the runway at Zvartnots Airport and burst into flames, said Avtiom Movsissian. He did not immediately know the airline to which the plane belonged, but Russian news reports said it was a plane of Belarus' Belavia Airlines. He said there were 18 passengers and three crew members aboard. Ten people were hospitalized with injuries. A spokesman for the airport, Gevorg Abramian, said none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening. The plane belonged to Belarus' state airline Belavia. Ashot Posted February 14, 2008 Report Share Posted February 14, 2008 Belarusian experts will arrive in Yerevan to investigate the reasons of the plane crash Experts of the Ministry of Transport of Belarus, the Aviation Committee and Belavia Company will arrive in Yerevan to participate in the investigation of the reasons of the passenger plane crash, Executive Director of the Belavia Air Company Anatoly Gusanov declared today. According to him, the specialists will arrive in Moscow and later in Yerevan. According to international norms, the investigation of the plane crash is carried out in the country on the territory of which it has occurred. Belarusian experts will work with their Armenian colleagues, Anatoly Gusanov said. He noted that he can say nothing about the reasons of the crash. Things will become clear only from the content of the flight recorder. Weather could not have affected the flight. However, this version should not be excluded either, the Executive Director of the Belavia Company noted. Belavia Company is searching for ways to transport the passengers to Minsk. Either we shall send an additional plane to Yerevan, or will take them to Moscow and later to Minsk depending on the situation, Mr. Gusarov said. Are the QC guys that check the planes corrupt too? How in the hell does an accident like that even happen? Weren't flight controls checked??? or were the passengers pushed in with chickens and goats in hand and handed their seat rope? Hyeastancies, get it together already...one day, I'd like to visit in one piece and come home... Geez Loo-eez! No fatalities were reported, with six reported hospitalized and others treated at the scene. The plane, a CRJ-100, was operating a flight for Belavia Airlines bound for Minsk. As it took off at about 4:15 a.m., the plane flipped, landed upside down and caught fire. According to a report by the General Department of Civil Aviation of Armenia, immediate rescue efforts evacuated all people out of the burning plane. Civil Aviation Authority spokeswoman Gayane Davtyan confirmed to ArmeniaNow that all passengers on board the plane were Armenians, with six of them citizens of Georgia. All crew members are citizens of Belarus. An inquiry has been started into the cause of the accident. Davtyan says no further details will be reported in the interest of the inquiry until after its completion. Press Secretary of the Head of the General Board of Civil Aviation Gayane Davtyan told “Noyyan Tapan” correspondent that 10 specialists from Belrus, 2 from the Interstate Aviation Committee and 10 from Armenia met with the Head of the General Board of Civil Aviation today. Gayane Davtyan informed also that Canadian specialist will also arrive in Armenia tonight. The burnt CRJ-100 plane operated by Belavia Company was produced in Canada.
