Ashot
He meant for the action taken... He is trying to say you are not a Furk to attack without a reason and kill people! This is not Armenia to do such a thing - you can't just barge in and kill anyone who steps infront of you!!!
SirunTgha
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxCTjQ6ve9o Haha that's so cool, I laughed so much, ''good woman, beautiful woman, marry me!'' The movie presents well the positive qualities of an Armenian man, I am glad. Seriously is that dubbed? I don't know if i'm supposed to laugh or not but I simply find it hilarious. Ashot
I think it wasn't even funny... or is it funny because we see ourselves in the same position? I think we should promote that movie and have it shown on hbo, cinemax, back to theaters!!!

VartanM
Funny? absolutely not. Cheese? a little bit. Compared to now days, when Armenians are portrayed as gangsters, this show is great. As Ashot said, it should be promoted.
flyhye
I do think the guy playing Zollie the Armenian did a good job. He does look a little Armenian. Dialog between him and the "yellow" man on the carriage is the reason I decided to post this. "I am Armenian. You know about Armenia? What goes on? What went on to this day?" "Armenia is small, conquered country. Those who conquer say Armenia is no more, but one man look to another and say how can not be Armenia, we are still Armenians. Sasuntsi Davit." "Ohh Zollie can not marry, no, no. Must stay free. Free to fight injustice and cruelty." "For me there is only Armenia" "Zollie not coward. Mr. Chinese understand" I never even watched one Kung Fu episode before in my life. After reading the description of this episode on Media Center, I decided to record it. Ashot
I would say I have to agree with you Hye jan on the topic, he is talking as if there is no more Armenia, but since there are Armenians that means there is Armenia... it's confusing, and people might get the wrong impression, just like my World History teacher, that I threw a chair at her, and got kicked off from the school for 2 weeks untill the issue was resolved... She asked everyone in the class who they were from, and I replied Armenia, what she said pissed me off - "Ah the so called Armenian eh? well I am glad that there is no more Armenia, and all of you Armenians migrated to the US and Russia" I replied to her that I came last year from Armenia, and there is a Republic of Armenia, and there is ARMENIA... she said why you lying bastard, how dare you to bring such false information to a World History class, that's when my chair flew over the class to hit her body!!! Eventually she god expelled from teaching in LAUSD... Now she is probably in Arizona or Texas teaching the same idiocracy to the students that there is no more Armenia... The guy in the video sure represents some good qualities as being an Armenian, but there is indeed missinformation in the text!!!

Ashot Jan when the episode was made Armenia was not independant, as you know it was USSR.

Yervant1
Sure, but it was not conquered, was it? I think the remark was more about the Genocide and the western Armenia.
Ashot
That's why it's a way of confusion - we all know what he spoke about, but no one else does... and yet, only some Armenians might even get the point where he is going at... so that's why there is a huge confusion there... but again, it's something that I am very proud of, and if people are confused let them ask and we will respond... it is just very good promotion for the Americans to find out who are Armenians!!! Inspiration!!!
Arpa
I would say I have to agree with you Hye jan on the topic, he is talki ==== The guy in the video sure represents some good qualities as being an Armenian, but there is indeed missinformation in the text!!! Please read (listen to) the fine print. First off, surely the actor is not Armenian, I have seen him but can't remember his name, he usually plays villains like "ayrabs" and such, then again listen when he says he came to this country to make some "para", a "gold digger" opportunist?, an economic refugee? What else is new?. Yet, listen again. Who has written that script? Mehmet turkogh-l-ian from nev-york?? where he says "i came here to make some PARA"? Para? When did "para" become an Armenian word? Have they heard of "dram/pogh"? This is nothing new. Everytime we hear the A word we melt. We are so love deprived that we call "father" anyone who rapes our mother. AVO
I think the remark had double meaning. This was during the Cold War and saying there is no more Armenia, is a directed at USSR, Armenia was under Soviet rule, hence no Armenia and Armenians should fight to liberate Armenia. Ashot
Arpa jan, there is a very big mystery as to which part of Armenia he came from, as it was not specified at all... but for Americans, none of them know what para is what dram is or what pogh is... It's a way of promotion, it brings an interest to the people to find out who the Armenians are that they have never heard of them. After researching a bit, then they will start researching the word - what is para... after some reasearch they will come across the Armenian history, and that will open a new door for them - they fill find out that their ancestors are Armenians!!! I like your optimism. As I said before. That script was probably written by that so called "armenian" who will still tell us that the oud and the dumbek are traditional Armenian instruments. Speaking of fine print. Did you see the scene where the posse guy with gun in hand, taking the law in his hands so to speak, threatens the negro who had killed his cousin and Zollie jumps in saying- "Stop!... This is not Armenia"!!! Edited February 12, 2008 by Arpa
