Ashot
“The second place of the Arevik ensemble in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Rotterdam was a real victory, since seven states awarded maximum 12 points to Armenian singers and the Armenian flag flew high on the stage,” said Armen Amiryan, the Executive Director of the Public Radio of Armenia. According to him, although the little singers of Armenia yielded just one point to the representative of Belarus, their victory was really obvious, since everyone – the organizers, the spectators – were singing the Armenian song. “A dream” warmed the hearts of Europeans, he said. “The affection for Armenian children could be felt especially from the number of Armenian flags waving in the hall, although there were few Armenians present,” Mr. Amiryan noted. Head of the Public Relations Department of the Public Television of Armenia Diana Mnatsakanyan said the representatives of Armenia and Ukraine were always leading, according to local bookmakers. The BBC intended to shoot a vide clip involving the representatives of Sweden, Cyprus and Georgia, but as a result the Armenian children were involved most of all. Diana Mnatsakanyan assured that the difference of one point with Belarus at the last moment was not a falsification. All the votes were counted by the German “Gegame” organization, and the points could not be accidental or predetermined. “The organization is responsible before the European Broadcasting Union for the points. Therefore, no frauds were possible,” she said. Asked whether Armenian will be able to organize the contest in Yerevan in the future, Diana Mnatsakanyan responded that there are many questions connected with the organization, which the Armenian side is not ready to settle. By the way, from today on the Public Television is launching a contest for election of the next representative of Armenia at Junior Eurovision to be held in Cyprus. Children aged 10-15 can participate in the contest. Now Arevik is preparing for the big concert at the National Opera and Ballet Theatre after Alexander Spendiaryan, which will feature the representative of Georgia at the Junior Eurovision.
