WE WILL FIGHT FOR PARTICIPATION IN OLYMPIC GAMES

Two important incidents took place in the history of Armenian hockey. First, Hockey International Federation arrived in Yerevan and highly estimated works of Armenian Federation. “Besides we have got the right to apply for the participation in the Olympic Games and next year we will play in the selective stage for 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver”, said Head of the Armenian Hockey Federation Karen Khachatryan.

The Head of the Federation pointed out the match in Turkey, where the Armenian National Team of 21 years-old defeated the Turkish team. The Irish Embassy refused to give visas to the Armenian National Team and they did not leave for Ireland to participate in the World Cup Tournament. Next year our team will compete in Bosnia with the local team and with the Greek team. In 2008 the Armenian Hockey Federation will have the opportunity to hold international meeting in Yerevan, in Karen Demirchyan Sport-Concert Complex.

Hockey demands great expenditures as an Olympic and team sport, but it was dismissed from 2008 Armenian budget. Karen Khachatryan complained of this, noting that after registering certain results they would demand money from the state. “We are collaborating with the Ministry. They are assisting us with whatever they can and I think that it’s soon to demand financial assistance from them yet”.

ARMENIAN WEIGHTLIFTERS EAGER TO WIN OLYMPIC GAMES MEDALS

Armenia’s national weightlifting team has proven that it will be a serious rival at this year’s Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

Gevorg Davtian, two-time Europe champion and vice world champion, who was voted as Armenia’s best athlete of 2007, told Armenpress that he and his peers will do their best in China to win as many medals as possible.

Asked why he failed to win a medal at a recent world championship in Thailand, Gevorg Davtian attributed it to his poor health which he said was caused by ‘peculiarities’ of the Thai climate.

He said Armenian weightlifters will leave for China days before the start of the Games to get adapted to local climate.

Gevorg Davtian said he knows well all his major rivals and will bear in mind that Chinese rivals will enjoy a strong support of their country fellows.

Foreign football clubs interested in Armenian players

This is really sad to see it happening, we would always want our good players to play for Armenia not for others...

Swedish football teams are interested in the player of the Yerevan’s “Pyunik” and the Armenian national team Levon *****jyan. His teammate Robert Arzoumanyan will, most probably, pass a trial period at the Danish “Renders.”

Arthur Voskanyan and Alexander Tadevosyan have signed agreements with the “Vitebsk” team of Belarus. Aghvan Mkrtchyan will play in another Belarussian team – the “Gomel.”

The sad part of the story is, Armenians always can get bought off...

Ashot on the contrary I'm happy that Armenian players are in demand from other countries that will bring attention to the country and encourage the rest of the players that, there is future in football and will help the Armenian football in general.

Also don't forget these players who play outside still can play for their country internationally.

does that mean, during the olipmic games they can come and play for Armenia? don't the players have to play enough with each other to know the tactics and stuff?

Professional players can't compete in Olympics anywhere, but they can play in international games like world cup or Euro cup. The committee allowed certain sports in the past but I think they reversed that now.

A good player who is exposed to international experience is far better than a player who played only in his own country, good players adjusts to his teammates quickly.
