Marseliatsi_M26
Turkey blackmails Mel Gibson who was offered role in film about Armenian Genocide /PanARMENIAN.Net/ The Foundation for the Struggle Against Baseless Allegations of Genocide (ASIMED) has begun an e-mail campaign to dissuade actor Mel Gibson from playing a role in a film about the Armenian Genocide during World War I. The president of ASIMED and faculty member at Ataturk University’s history department, Professor Savas Egilmez, said that the Armenian Diaspora had assigned $100 million to Hollywood film production companies to encourage shooting of such a film. “Some Hollywood companies are preparing to shoot a film supporting the Armenian view. There is hearsay that Mel Gibson is to play a role in one of these films. The film is reported to be shot at Icon Productions, the company Gibson is a partner in,” said Egilmez. Egilmez reminded that a similar situation occurred recently when Sylvester Stallone announced his plans to play a role in a new film adaptation of the book “The Forty Days of Musa Dagh.” “After a campaign led by ASIMED in which more than 3,000 e-mails were sent to Stallone, the actor declined the role. The European press also expressed concerns about the book’s accuracy. We have begun sending documents about the truth of the situation to Gibson. We started an e-mail campaign to urge him to decline the role and to not allow this film to be shot at his production company. What we are facing is a new slander campaign on the level of the Midnight Express. We need to put pressure on this famous actor by telling him the truth of the matter,” Egilmez said, Zaman reports. Midnight Express is a 1978 film, based on Billy Hayes' book of the same name adapted into screenplay by Oliver Stone. Hayes was a young American student sent to a Turkish prison for trying to smuggle hashish out of Turkey. The film won Academy Awards for Best Music, Original Score (Giorgio Moroder) and Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium (Stone). It was also nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (John Hurt), Best Director, Best Film Editing and Best Picture. http://www.panarmenian.net/news/eng/?nid=24202 WE MUST SEND SUPPORT LETTERS/EMAILS TO MEL GIBSON ICON PRODUCTIONS 808 Wilshire Blvd. Santa Monica CA 90401 USA Email : admin@iconmovies.com

Marseliatsi_M26
My letter to Mel Gibson Dear Sir, I am writing to you in hope that you might read my letter. My name is Benjamin Kasparian and i am from Marseilles, France. I would like to thank you for your decision to shoot a movie on the Armenian genocide. During the Armenian genocide, more than 1.5 million Armenian civilians were massacred, beheaded, tortured, raped and ripped up by Turkish soldiers. 92 years after, Turkey still occupies the greater part of ancient Armenia, denies the Armenian genocide, maintains a negationnist policy, spreads it throughout the world and puts in jail people who talk about this genocide. 92 years after, the Armenians are still in mourning but they fight for the recognition of this genocide. The Armenian genocide has officially been recognized so far by the United Nations, the European Parliament, the Council of Europe and many states like France, Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Armenia, Slovakia, Poland, Lithuania, Russia, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Canada, Lebanon, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Venezuela and the Vatican City. Moreover, 40 states of the USA, The U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Australian state of New South Wales and the greatest historians in the world have recognized it too. Atom Egoyan’s movie “Ararat” deals with the Armenian genocide. Nevertheless, other movies are necessary to reach an international recognition. You are one of the greatest nowadays directors and actors. All your movies are masterpieces. If you produce a movie on the Armenian genocide, i am sure it will convince the US Congress and the International Community to recognize it. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours faithfully, Benjamin Kasparian.

Arpa
How is it that when a "staunch ally-friend" commits genocide, and another "staunch ally-friend" commits "gynocide/womanacide" neither Washington Nor London have nothing to say about the subject??!! Saudi Rape Victim Gets 200 Lashes RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Nov. 16, 2007 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (CBS/AP) A Saudi court sentenced a woman who had been gang raped to six months in jail and 200 lashes - more than doubling her initial penalty for being in the car of a man who was not a relative, a newspaper reported Thursday. The decision by the Qatif General Court came in a case that had sparked rare debate about the kingdom's justice system when it surfaced more than a year ago. In its decision Wednesday, the court also roughly doubled prison sentences for the seven men convicted of raping the 19-year-old woman, the Arab News reported on its English-language Web site. According to Arab News, the court said the woman's punishment was increased because of "her attempt to aggravate and influence the judiciary through the media." The New York Times reported that her lawyer, Abdulrahman al-Lahem, is a well-known human rights activist who angered the court by publicly criticizing the verdict. He said the verdict was too lenient for the rapists and unjust for the victim. The victim had initially been sentenced to 90 lashes after being convicting her of violating Saudi's rigid laws on segregation of the sexes. Under Saudi Arabia's interpretation of Islamic Sharia law, women are not allowed in public in the company of men other than their male relatives. The court also banned her lawyer from defending her, confiscated his license to practice law and summoned him to a disciplinary hearing later this month. The initial sentences for the men convicted of the gang rape ranged from 10 months to five years in prison. Their new sentences range from two to nine years, the paper said. The attack took place in 2006. The woman has said that it occurred as she tried to retrieve her picture from a male high school student she used to know. While in the car with the student, two men got into the vehicle and drove them to a secluded area. She said she was raped there by seven men, three of whom also attacked her friend. Reports of the story triggered debate about Saudi Arabia's legal system, in which judges have wide discretion in punishing a criminal, rules of evidence are shaky and sometimes no defense lawyers are present. The result, critics say, are sentences left to the whim of judges. The judges, appointed by the king, have a wide discretion in handing down sentences, often said to depend on their whim. A rapist, for instance, could receive anywhere from a light or no sentence, to death. The woman was identified in the media only as the Girl from Qatif. The case was referred back to the General Court by an appeals court last summer, after her lawyer went public with his criticism of the verdict.
