DID SAHAKASHVILI TAKE A BRIBE?

The $225 million given by Turkey to Sahakashvili for the

construction of Turkey-Tbilisi-Akhltskha railway is a bribe,

Levon Melik-Shahnazaryan, editor-in-chief of "De Facto"

analytical-information network and a famous political scientist,

told a news conference today.

 

"I call it a hidden bribe since the credit is given with a condition

of no return and besides, it is transferred to a limited liability

company established specifically for this purpose on the explanation

that the state customs house cannot customs clear so big sum," the

political scientist said. He also said in case Poti and other ports

suffer losses because of this railway, the credit will again be subject

of no return. "It is obvious that the ports will suffer economically

because that rout will be quicker and cheaper," Melik-Shahnazaryan

said. "It is a project against Armenia and the chief force here is

Turkey and not Georgia," he mentioned.

 

Speaking about internal developments in Georgia, the speaker said

that there is no influence of external forces in this case and the

happenings are an attempt of internal political remodeling. "All

oppositional forces are the supporters and heirs of Sahakashvili

ideology. In any case, I believe that the president of Georgia will

not change," Melik-Shahnazaryan noted also saying the power is not

elected but inherited in Georgia.
