Zartonk
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Mudurian http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=3378072 http://www.arfarfrecords.com/arfarf/jack.html From The New York Times For 17 years, David Greenberger has been chronicling a close cousin of madness -- senility -- by lovingly posing questions, from the simple to the surreal, to the residents of nursing homes. ''Downloading the Repertoire'' (Arf! Arf!, Box 495, Middleborough, Mass. 02346) is one of his most bizarre recordings, with a former Duplex Nursing Home resident, Jack Mudurian, stringing together 129 songs in a 47-minute a cappella medley. What is most interesting about this CD is not Mr. Mudurian's slurred, rushed singing but the way his entire life story unfolds in his selection of material, which includes ''Any Bonds Today,'' ''When Irish Eyes Are Smiling'' and three renditions of ''Chicago (That Toddling Town).'' For those who don't know, the term outsider music applies to music created by individuals who are somehow removed from society at large (often due to psychological disorders) and have no associations with the conventions, aesthetic, zeitgeist, industry and technical structure of music, responsible for highly abnormal musical pieces. Notable outsider musician's include Tiny Tim and cult hero Daniel Johnston. Mudurian is also featued in the (only) definitive Introduction to/Collection of outsider music Songs in the Key of Z.
