La Stpo

La STPO (La Société des Timides à la parade des Oiseaux / Shy Society at the Bird Parade) is a French progressive rock band of the RIO style (like Henry Cow). Their lead singer is Armenian: Pascal Godjikian. As all RIO they have their avante garde mix of jazz and rock with occasional hints of Armenian music influence. They even have a song titled "Armenie". Progressive rock isn't for everyone, let alone RIO, but they should be given a chance and supported. They have MP3's on their site.

Pascal Godjikian also released music with a band called Enihcam. I have the album Le Grande Photolase which I purchased from Systemic Audio (http://www.systemicaudio.com/store/). It's completely ridiculous bizarre breakbeat insanity. I'll recommend it though I'm sure only I would actually be entertained by it.

Hi everyone,

just wanted to thank Arvestaked a lot for having spoken of our band "la stpo". i was so surprised when i saw that Armenians would talk about us !

we're just back from a short tour of germany, which was our best so far. we were treated like kings by most of the organisers, we had wonderful audiences (they've asked for encores and encores), and we've sold lots of records. what could be better ?!!!

on the subject of armenia, there were many songs recorded by the band :

- Rouge et Bleu (red & blue) on the first lp (this was recorded at the time of soviet armenia, and at this time the flag was red blue red) sung in armenian

- rouge bleu orange (red orange blue) : in three parts of course, sung in armenian

- sarajevo-stepanakert : with hints at traditional armenian music, spoken in french

- stupnido-soumgaït : in armenian partly

- arménie : in armenian

and perhaps some others i dont recall right now.

well, thanks again
