Guest Posted September 21, 2000 Report Share Posted September 21, 2000 Armenian Independence Day celebration at GCC GCC's Armenian Student Assn. holds noon celebration By JUDY SECKLER GLENDALE COMMUNITY COLLEGE -- Students at Glendale Community College's have planned an Armenian Independence Day celebration today open to the public and everyone on campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendees can dance to tunes by a live band with a singer and Mediterranean instruments or for $5 can enjoy a barbecue with beef or chicken kabob and tahn, an Armenian yogurt drink. Everything else is free. "It's a very fun and festive time," said Melanie Brown, administrative assistant to the dean of student affairs. "Lots of students come out and dance." The Armenian Student Assn. is one of 24 student organizations on campus including the Assn. of Latin American Students, Korean Christian Fellowship, Lebanese-Phoenician Heritage Club, Investors Club, Scholars Program, Fashion Club, Alpha-Gamma-Sigma Honors Society, California Media Arts, Dance Club, Future Millionaires and the Hack'n Slack Assn., which exists to relax and play Hacky Sack.
