Mixer Device

What does it mean when it says "There are no active mixer devices available" I keep on getting this warning every time I try to raise the volume on my computer. This started when I reset my computer for having a virus.

Well the audio does not work and when I open the volume control, it says: There are no active mixer devices

available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware.

This Program will now close.

I do not have "Printers and Other Hardware" when I go to Other Hardware, it says that everything works properly, what can I do to hear audio?

Hope this is more information. If so is it still the sound card?

Sorry but I dont understand what that means.

click control penal, go to system, click hardware tab, select DEVICE MANAGER, select sound card, right click and go to DRIVER tab, and roll the driver back or update.

or get a dissent virus program, AVG, NORTON, etc... spyware "spy sweeper" which cleans your web root, but most likely your driver is no good

Thank you very much, I'll try it when I get home.

click the "+" of sound, video and game controlers (third one from the bottom) at device manager.

Second one is "legacy audio drivers" right click and you will see "update driver"
