thanks for infos and the last message

Varoujan is my favorite.

Please post ''O, Dalita'', ''O Lalake'' and ''ORHNOUTIUN'' of the greatest western armenians poet. The last one has great vision of life. God, my tears don't ever stop when I re-read that poetry. Unfortunately, I don't have it now in my hands, but I'm still feeling it in my head, heart, in my soul in general...

The guy was only in his 20s when he had this kind of inspiration...''Ap mu tsoryan kloukht i var togh vor tsanem vortis sirvadz...vortis sirvadz, tsoubs dzaghgadz...''

(I hope im not wrong...just remembering...)

No you're not wrong.

Hmayk, could you read the Armenian text?

O Dalita and O Lalake are too long and hard to translate. Maybe some day...

You say, he was only in his twenties...

The greatest tragedy of all, as we were talking about quality v quantity of the victims, was that almost all of the murdered ones, Varouzhan, R. Sevak, Siamanto and Komitas were in their thirties when they were savagely destroyed.

You are absolutely right Hmayk. This is a great poem. I will never forgive turks, what they did to our people and to our intelligents. I will fight them till they recognize the ARMENIAN GENOCIDE!

Varouzhan,

ì³ñáõųÝ-/FONT]

At the present, in general a "male bird". Records indicate

that at one time it may have been specifically used to

describe the male of a dove(tatrak). The origin is obscure

even if many neighboring cultures may use the word in some

form or other. In the Iranian one runs across "varsh" to

simply mean dove. Those familiar with Arabic will recognize

that "farrouj" (a diminutive of "farj?" [there is no V in Arabic])

is used to describe "chick/chicken".

In the Armenaia Varouzhan and Varouzhnak(obviously a diminutive form)

are used alternately and interchangeably to denote a "male bird" or

as the case may be a "male chick"(with the diminutive suffix "ak"),

i.e young [male] bird.

The reason why for a long time I thought Daniel Varouzhan's poem -Varouzhnakis

was dedicated to a "MALE young bird(offspring)". However it seems he

just used to word to mean a "young bird", i.e. "chick".

He can! He can take "poetic license". He is a POET after all.
