nairi
According to certain (legendary) versions of history, the "Indians" of Peru are in fact descendants of the Ophir who came from Armenia. Technically, then, Peruvians are Armenians.
Zartonk
I thought they were Turans... Sorry luhay, but I doubt there is a community. According to armeniandiaspora.com, the number is "unknown". I read non-existent... Edited April 1, 2007 by Zartonk
Boghos
does anybody know if there are any armenians in Peru? I couldn't find any organizations or churches on the internet. I am certain that there is no Armenian Church, the likelihood of another organization is very low.In So. America Armenians are mostly in the Southern Cone: Argentina (very large community), Uruguay, Brazil and a much smaller community in Chile (there is a Hay Dun in Santiago but no church). There is also a community in Venezuela. You usually find the odd Armenian origin expat in other countries (Colombia, Peru, Ecuador) that have been transferred from their home countries but as far as I know, no communities to speak of.
