Boghos
Dear Tornado, I have seen many English, a few French. No doubt Russian, but that is not within my language universe. There are a few old Turkish-Armenian dictionaries which are a treasury in my view. I have knowledge of an Armenian-Spanish dictionary made in Argentina, a really fine work, not very large, but very well done. Very hard to get, I am afraid. There is also an Armenian-Portuguese dictionary made in Brazil. It is not at the same level as the Spanish one, but still not bad. That one is available in some bookstores and through the church in Brazil.
Guest
Thank you dear Boghos, I think that those dictionaries are in West Armenian right? I want to search more for if there are East Armenian dictionaries in Spanish or Portuguese. Also I wonder if you know that there is East Armenian dictionary into Turkish? As I assume that those old Armenian-Turkish dictionaries were in West Armenian. I think the fact that the Armenians are usually bilingual in Armenian and a bigger language, so they can use the dictionaries in the bigger language, and therefore it is no insentive to make dictionaries. But still I am interested to know in which languages there exist Armenian languages?Armin minassian my Iranian Armenian friend says that he has, Armenian persian dictionary from Yerevan. A dictionary of Iranian Armenian into persian, and a dictionary of a dialect of Armenian in West of Esfahan region of Iran, into the standard east Armenian. there may appear also a dictionary of another Iranian Armenian dialect very soon. An Armenian friend of mine is now working on the dictionary of standard East Armenian in to dialects of lake Sevan in North eastern part of Armenia, the region he comes from. But the dictionary would be into Russian, as he says that the most of the resources about the Armenian language is written into Russian so he will do it so that the linguists may use it. His English is not well, and he says also that he doesn't want to be associated with the resources on the Ramenians and Armenian language, which are written in English. he says most of them are not intersting comparing to those written in the Russian. well thank you friend and I allways be interested to hear more about the resources on the Armenian language.
