Edit: How rude of me!

Welcome Nelly.

We hope you stay here to learn/teach, or for that matter, unlearn and unteach us.

Which Georgia? The US state or the Republic? It may have some import.

I can’t give you a straight answer. Maybe Johannes can do a better job. I think he said he has access to Ajarian’s Dictionary of names.

At first glance I thought you said GaRsoyan , like Nina Garsoian, note the R, if it were, then the place of origin Kars/Gars woud be a factor.

I see several elements here, Armenian, Kurdish and Russian.

Just like the Armenians Kurds are also fond of the form of endearment of names. I.e. Garabed/Karapet become Garo/Karo, Arshavir/Arshaluys becomes Arsho and many more… Kurds do that too Tamoyan the ArmenianYezdi comes to mind. Abdalla becomes Abdo, and Hasan becomes Hasso/Haso. Here comes the Russian factor. We know that there is no H in Russian, they all become G Like Hrant become Grant etc. What if we reverse the process and assume that it was Hasoyan originally and was russifird to Gasoyan. If we were to assume that Gaso/Kaso/Casso is a diminutive endearing form of a name, I can’t think of any boys’ name except Gassia/Cassia…? It is a girls name which is still very widely used. Search the net using “Gassia” and see.

Like I said. I probably confused the issue even more but it gives you a wider parameter for search.

OK Let’s play a game. How many names do you know that take the O ending in endearment.

Don’t answer here escept addressing the issue on hand. A to that game I have already initiated another thread as "The O Factor”.
