Armenian Car Horn

Recommended Posts

I have been thinking about this for a while now ... here in the US, we have these awesome car air horns that play different popular tunes like La Cucaracha, Dixie, and even the theme from God Father. HERE is one example .. make sure you go down to the AIR HORN section (forget the electronic ones ... they suck).

Anyway, so what do you think would be an ideal Armenian-type air horn? I just can't think of anything good that would make a good horn, yet scream from miles away that you are Armenian ...

Any ideas? Note that the theme should be suitable for an air horn design. If you don't know what an air horn sounds like, that page I linked up there as several samples.

Hmmmm... Ara vay vay sounds good too!

The problem I have with ghapama is very similar to the ara vay vay one ... you can basically do it with your exisiting horn. It's more timing than "tune".

*, *, * *, ********** (hey, jan, gha pa, maaaaaaaa) same tone

* *, ****, *, ,* * * * (a ra, vaaaaay, vay, ,vay vay vay vay) again all same tone ?

Maybe something like "Zangeeeeer, ghohoghanjeeeeek" (from the Sardarabad song?) ... I don't know. This ended up being much harder than it seemed at first. By the way, if anyone knows something like this that already exists, please let me know!!! I am not a big fan of re-inventing the wheel

Well, you know what I would recommend of course! (ughhmmm{clearing throat here!})~~~ a good old fashioned (not that old yet!) tata song such as "the classic" dtagheekner...then you can have a nice sound effect when he sings "badoohan, badoohan, badoohaneeh dahg" BAAAAAMMMM! you can break that bottle of "kotayk" for the hyastantzeehs ~~~ then, again you can never ever ever! go wrong with my favorite garabner ...akkkh, nsdehm dzehr...(don't make me sing it... it's too late.. I have to wake up early tomorrow!

Bari Luck!
