The fact that this subject comes up in an Armenian forum is on the assumption that this varmint, just because his surname ends in -ian is of Armenian origin.

See what I had said before, even if my assumption of him being an Iranian Jew may be a little stretched.

Obviously that person is an Iranian Jew.

David is synonymous to our Haik and Savafian is very Persian going all the way back to the Savafid Dynasty.

Persians do use the -ian in their surnames, most commonly by Persian Jews. I do remember during Khomeini's revolution when they hanged many on trumped up charges, one of the hanged had a name ending in -ian, een if his personal name was characteristically Jewish, something like Mordechai, the media made it clear that he was Jewish. I could not find any refernce to it on the net.

David Hossein Safavian (sa-fa-vee-yawn) (born August 4, 1967) is a former chief of staff of the United States General Services Administration (GSA) and convicted criminal in the Jack Abramoff lobbying and corruption scandal.
