Russian Owned Armenia

It would be interesting to know what major industries in Armenia are not owned by Russians. I think it would be easier to calculate.

It is not far fetched to realize that through big Russian companies Kremlin easily can exert its will on Armenia. In Russia today no industry operates without Kremlin's direct hands. Those companies who resist subjugation to Kremlin's whims (read:cut) are promptly forced to bankruptcy and their owners threatened with imprisonment. So, it follows that Kremlin operates all those companies that are buying Armenia.

from today's Azg newspapar.

SALE OF 90% OF ARMENTEL SHARES SI LIKELY TO COMPLETE IN LATE AUGUST

It is expected that the sale of 90% of ArmenTel shares will be completed in late August. OTE headquarter informed about this, today. According to the source, the board of OTE company didn't make any official statements about the terms of the sale. "But there are all grounds to suppose that the sales results will be known already in end August," it stated. The Russian mass media informed that 90% of ArmenTel shares will be sold to the Russian "AFK Sistema" and VTEL Holdings / Knightsbridge Associates the international consortium.

can some of this Russian or Russia based "Associates" be owned by Armenians ??

I think it is irrelevant who owns a particular company, they operate freely until the moment of clashes with Kremlin’s interests.. One has to remember that Mikhail Khodorkovsky, of YUKO's oil, became an "oil magnate" and achieved a tremendous wealth without his Jewish background being a liability. His downfall was the result of the false assumption on Khodorkovsky's part that he could brush off Putin and his Kremlin government operatives and act independently.

So, Mosjan, an Armenian could possibly own a Russian company that buys an Armenian enterprise but it would have to follow the dictates of Russia. Remember how easily Yokos was dismantled?

you have a good point - this way or the other Russia "owns" Armenia

the think i don;t understand is haw a oligarkh is investing 30~40 million overseas and wont invest in Armenia

like Sarkisyans brother invested a over 30mil in USA - why don;t he or his like invest in to Armenia - instead of letting Russia buy .... or is it not up to them - russia whats Russia gets

it's my understanding that most of this transactions are don on high levels of government

Yukos was dismantled for the same reason Al Capone's organization was dismantled.
