Zartonk
No Daniel, it is Arabic, as in Harun-al-Rasheed. Harun is the Arabized form of Aaron, the Armenian equivalent being Aharon, but nevertheless is of Semitic origin and not Armenian. Edit: Aaron is Moses' brother in the Torah. Eva
Harun, or Haroon, (Arabic: هارون ) was a prophet of Islam mentioned in the Qur'an. In the Bible he is known as Aaron (Aharōn in Hebrew).

Arpa
hey guys....just wondered if the name harun is armenian.... Tx in advance First off. Welcome Daniel. If THOU dost not expect these kinds of responses, then THOU ahouldts not asketh these kinds of questioneths. It has been said; "Ask and ye shall receiveth, search and ye shall findest". Everything you did not ask and did not need to know! Yes, Harun is the Arabic version of Aharon/Aaron. Ask our own Haru(t)n. Harun Al Rashid (764-809) was one of the most famous of Abassid Caliphs. http://www.bartleby.com/65/ha/HarunalR.html Above it says Rashid means “upright”. My Persian dictionary defines it as “brave/of elegant, tall stature”. 20. AHARON From Hebrew Aharon, Greek - Aaron, Latin - Aaron, Arabian - Harun. Haykazyan dictionary gives the following explanation: ''scholar'', ''the one who knows''.The short form is Haron. We also have the s… 0.2 KB “scholar”?? http://armenian.name/index.php?a=list&d=1&t=dict&w1=A According to (UN)reliable sources Aaron, supposed to mean “lofty/enlightened” ( is that where the “scholar” comes from?). Further reading will tell us that Moses having a speech impediment, not being eloquent had his brother Aaron as his mouthpiece. Speaking of Unreliable sources, see editorialette below. Aaron Aaron was the firstborn son of Amram and his wife/aunt Jochebed, who were Levites (Exodus 2:1; 6:20). He was born during Israel's time in Egypt, 83 years before the Exodus, 3 years before his brother Moses, and about 10 years after his sister Miriam (Exodus 2:1,4; 6:20; 7:7). And, if you are an avid reader of fiction and fables, read the rest, if you must; http://www.keyway.ca/htm2002/aaron.htm Editorialette; Does not that same Book of Fables also tell us that Moses was a foundling in one narrative and turns around and tells us that he had brothers? Is not that the same Book of Fables that tells us that God created the world in six days, if it were written today it would have said five days, with Saturday being a day to clean one’s garage and church on Sunday ? Is not that the same Book of fables that tells us that Adam and Eve had two sons, no daughters, and that one murdered the other? Did they know the art of cloning? Does not cloning produce offsprings of the same gender? OK, OK! I am an idiot. Maybe our crack biologists can enlighten us!! See? What an idiot I am. Of course, I remember, God wrote that Book, and He is the biggest “omni-liar” of them all. Did you know that Elvis Presley’s middle name was Aaron, and that the surname of the first president of Armenia was (Avetis) Aharaonian?
