"warm, Flamboyant And Exotic"

The boys of the Armenian Element Band have created a unique composition merging together European, Mediterranean and Armenian music, the Armenian Mirror Spectator weekly reports.

The new CD of the Band is a "warm, flamboyant and exotic" combination where the tunes of fiddle, guitar, accordion, mandolin, bouzouki and computer keyboard intermix the pearls of Armenian music. While composing their music Ara Dabajian (orchestration), Saro Kuchakian (lyrics), Kurs Sherbetjian (vocal), Shant Maserejian (violin) and Jeremy Millado (bas) were concerned with preserving the Armenian spirit. They first got into the spotlight last year while paying at the John Anson Ford Theatre at the opening of French Gipsy band’s concert. In November, the Band warmed up the audience at the Kodak Theatre before Demis Roussos’ performance, the paper writes.

Some corrections/additions to that article/posting:

- The band does not consist of all males as the word "boys" in the article refers to. One of the lead vocalists is a female.

- The female vocalist is GARS Sherbetjian and not Kars.

- The French band that they opened for was Bratsch.

I have attended a number of Element's concerts over the last year and I did like them quite a bit, though they are a young group and still have a ways to go in many aspects.

Their website is http://www.elementband.com and their CD can be listened to and purchased from CDRama.

The In Progress website is still up. I'm confused.

Mher left the band. Not sure what he is up to now. Right after this change they renamed the band to Element. I think the In Progress website and name will soon be gone. Even though their last concert I went to they did still play a few of their English songs from the In Progress days.

I saw him at a Karin Tatoyan concert a month or so ago taking pictures. I didn't approach him though 'cause I don't think he likes me much.

If Element plays a show sometime soon and I know about it I may make my way over. I guess I should. I should support. But I'm too lazy. I missed the last 2.5 years worth of Songs and Flight shows.
