Todd Book, the deputy minority leader of the Ohio State Assembly, submitted a draft resolution to the State Assembly on February 1, which, if passed, designate April 24 the day of remembrance of the Armenian Genocide, Noyan Tapan reported, citing Radio Liberty.

“April 24 is declared the day of remembrance of the Armenian Genocide to mark the 1.5 million Armenians killed in the Ottoman Empire,” the resolution says.

Speaking to Radio Liberty, Armenian National Committee of America representative Elizabeth Chouldjian said the text is very simple. The ANCA has sent appreciation letters to the Ohio State Assembly.

“We are working towards encouraging 40,000-50,000 Armenians of Ohio to urge other lawmakers to vote in favor of the resolution,” Doug Jorjarian, the ANCA Eastern Region director said.
