/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The Georgian and Azerbaijani authorities refuted the information on the presence of CIA jails in the countries. “The information on CIA secret prisons in Baku is far-fetched,” Azerbaijani Minister of Justice Fikret Mamedov stated adding that the “investigation initiated by the European Council has nothing in common with Azerbaijan.” He stressed that the Azerbaijani punishment system “is under permanent control of the society and the lawyers are aware of the situation within the structure.”

Recently Azeri media several times published information that CIA planes meant for conveying suspects of terrorism and prisoners to CIA jails in various states. Last month the European Council members stated of the necessity to clear out the situation with the CIA secret prisons. Romania, Poland and Azerbaijan are among the countries where such jails are admittedly situated. “The examination of photos from satellite will confirm or refute the presence of secret prisons in Romania and Poland,” Swiss official Dick Marty stated. Georgian Minister of Justice Givi Mikanadze denied today the presence of secret prisons in Georgia, RFE/RL reported.
