All of my family members eat and enjoy KHASH except me, even the looks of it turns my stomach upside down. I know what you mean. I was turned off early in life as well, when it was customaryin Halep, after a night at the "hamam", the next step was at the khash restaurant. Beside the strong garlic smell, I still rememeber when some of the morsels would still have the sheep fur/hair. I may have got over that phobia as today we have better ways to denude the parts of fur and hair. Btw, did you know that khash, with its jellied consistency is the Armenian alternative to the "chickn soup" for whatever ails you, all the way from the commonn cold to diarrhea? Not to mention the mild antibiotic affect of the component of garlic Alliin. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alliin Edited December 16, 2008 by Arpa

Iowa roads kept ice free with garlic salt http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/living/20...ref=videosearch Now that i have supporters here (thanks Yervant and Arpa ) i will voice my objections against xash… 1.The only way to have “fur”free xash is to take those “totikner” to at least three laser hair removal sessions, because after shaving or burning the fur… the roots are still there… 2.The effect of garlic is tripled when mixed with xash, and I personally get overdosed from just washing the dishes… 3.Why does it have to be cooked all night long…after breathing the smell of cooked feet for 8 hours, I just want to I apologize to the xashlovers of our forum... Hey Maral! Do you know how to make "ddoum shakar/candied pumpklin? I have made it, but it was so many years ago when we used lime to soak overnight to make the pumpkin hard and crispy. I don't know, maybe as suggested below baking soda will do the job as well. http://www.recipesource.com/desserts/candy/07/rec0701.html Or is it Ghapama?
