Kazza
Now dont hold back, and dont be biast either. I want to know if anyone has ever, heard some REALLY inspiring, GOOD, Armenian music. By being biast I mean, even if nobody told you that it was armenian would you love it? would you only say "I love it", with emotional, rabiz gusto just because you knew it was Armenian? Come on now, don't be shy, I want some real honesty here. Even when I am in the car with my mother listening to the greek channel, and I dont like some thing I will say "That was so crap" and she says "don't talk like that about greek music" but as you can probably tell I am looking for fantastic Armenian music, most of the stuff on Parseghan records Is pretty good but that's more your traditional and classical music type thing. I know they are really trying to find some good young talent at the moment, and even Hokis is a little ropey by all accounts. I am also interested because I want to include armenanness in my music. Well put! quote:Originally posted by Arasbel:Armenian folk-jazz (Datevik Hovhannesian!!)for any moment!!I just out some of her music at Narek.com. Good stuff! Taguhi
I love Artur Meschian and Ruben Haxverdian's music. Then Harut,Tatul, Armenian liturgial music and all Armenian folk and patriotical music. Then...... now I can't remember names...Maybe later. Kazza
Haxverdian is OK, Harout is as lovely as ever but I'm really into Djivan - I really wish I was touring with him and Nune! I would really love that.

Nvard
I go for OLD! Armenian music..That is really the best ever!that is REAL Armenian music!!In our days most of the people call that "Middle Eastern melting pot" traditional Armenian music???!That is not really Armenian it is 90% borrowed. the worst thing is when Armenian "traditional" singers start screaming like Muslim mullahs(AMAN AMAN AMAN. etc.)BTW real Hay music sounds more like Celtic. But I have to agree Jivan and his duduk are just......mmmmmmmm....

Nané
quote:Originally posted by koko:* Hakhverdian rocks. Dont listen to it everyday Why not? Personally, I can listen to him for days in a row and not get tired. quote:Originally posted by koko:Does anyone know where you can purchase recordings by Robert Amirkhanian (brilliant) or Badalian?Robert Amirxanyan is a BRILLIANT composer but a HORRIBLE singer (I just wish he realized that). His songs are sang by various singers and I am sure they can be found at Armenian Record stores. Hovhannes Badalian's recording can also be found at Armenian Record stores. Or check out www.narek.com
