Trash bin or Treasure chest?

(First a little linguistics.

I had to look up to see the Armenian word for trash. Among several the word “tapukծթափուկ” stood up. It makes sense, it means “that we discard, throw away, well, trash, based on ‘tapel/թափել‘ ”. I could not find a suitable word for trash can, so I made up a few. One of them is tapkanot, anot meaning container. Yet I chose “tapkaran” for the esthetic and poetic reasons. BTW. There are other words to mean trash, garbage etc. the most common being aghb/աղբ, however the latter, strictly speaking is specifically applied to animal refuse, I.e. manure.)

Let’s begin.

On many occasions, under many varied topics we have spoken about our national figures, be they historical or contemporary, be they mythical or documentary, be they national and military, religious or secular, artistic or literary.

So, let us see what our opinions are about our national figures, are they trash or treasure? Do they belong in the Tapkaran or the Gandzaran? Were they/are liberators or traitors? We also know that one man’s trash is another’s treasure.

Let’s see. Where do they belong?

Let’s begin, based on the Mesropian Aybuben (without the O and Fe in this case) , beginning with Aramazd to Kocharian, and every one in between, such as , Haik, Tigran, Artavazd, Trdat, Lousavorich, Vardan, Vasak and so on, all the way to modern times.

Pick one or one of your own favorite.

Were they, are they heroes or rascals?

Why?

Who is our one and only undisputed national hero?
