Russia In The Eu

What do you think? Is it possible that Russia some day can become a member of the EU?

After Turkish accesion into the Union say in 15-20 years from now why not Russia too. Plus, Russia unlike Turkey is European country, both in terms of culture and to certain extend geography. European Russia is as developed as much as most of Eastern Europeans countries. Russia itself has enormous natural resources and significant intelectual potential and manpower. Russian inclusion in the Union will offset the negative demographic picture on the Continent.

Any comments?

Russia belongs in the EU now, no question there!

The last place Russia belongs to is the EU.

She would bring much natural resources into the EU.

That's not a good thing.

Culturally, she is closer to the EU countries than Turkey is.

Lets hope so, since so far EU countries are European nations.

Does Turkey have a St. Petersburg? Istambul does not compare as a European place.

Do animals build cities? They only steal what others have built and call it theirs. But when they first met with civilisation in Persia, in Armenia, they decimated structures in order to make room for their herd.

Russian inclusion in the Union will offset the negative demographic picture on the Continent.

It wouldn't offset anything in France, Germany, Netherlands, so what does it matter.

Russia should stay out of the EU. Countries like Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Macedonia, should stay out of the EU. Greece should drop out of the EU. Turkey should join the EU and bring the rest to their knees. Then maybe that can instill a nationalist fervor in all the other nations and put forth an un-brainwashing affect.

Skhara are you sure you are not my alter ego! :) On a more serious note I'm all for these countries joining the Union but not prematurely. And by prematurely I don't mean only fulfillment of certain criteria, but also assurances for the national capital to grow and be competitive with the European mega-corporations. Otherwise the "joining" would look like one-way street.
