Ararat told me his father makes instruments and reeds, and he had told me that they put them in boiling water. I dont see how the reed can be bent when it is totally dry. There must be some liquid that the reed goes in. I know that you said you have seen MKS make a few reeds. By the way, I have 2 of his duduks and I know who he is and how good his work is. I just wanted to know if you can tell me ANYTHING about the process, any kind of clues or hints that might help me. I was thinking maybe the reed must be soaked in some kind of strong acid to denature the fibers so that the reed can be bent. What instrument is used to shave the reed?
