I think Ray Charles was the culmination of blues, especially his "Baby what I say". He also had soul songs, like "Georgia on my mind" and I still can't get why did he devote this wonderful song to our neghboring country )), but I think it was the Afro rithm that made him Ray Charles. Guest Posted August 14, 2000 Report Share Posted August 14, 2000 Yeah, Ray Charles also came out with a sequel called "Get my Tblisi mo joe on!" seriously though, I really don't consider Ray Charles to be blues, I am more into the raw, rock oriented blues of Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Luther Allison and Long John Hunter! That was really fun. I remember a friend of mine joked (just like Farsi) that in that case "The Delta Blues" started somewhere near the river Koura in the mountains. Farsi, isn't "Got my mojo workin'" Muddy Waters' song.I know that Ray Charles is not really blues, but his songs like "Set me free", "I've got a woman" and my favourite "What I say" are nothing but pure Afro rithms. Man I like them. I share your fascinatioin with the genre Louis Armstrong is my fave. There's a blues club in L.A. I really like (FYI for the Los Angelinos..B.B. King's in Citywalk), but I have yet to see a single Armenian soul there. It has a very comfy yet sophisticated atmosphere (to my mind), plus the bands playing there are really good.
