gamavor
The following is from the turkish 'press' regarding the meeting of Erdogan with Bush. "In other words, Washington will listen to what Erdogan has to say in the White House and then will expect him to repeat what he says when he emerges from there. In the long term, the United States will expect Erdogan and Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul to take action against the anti-Americanism in their party. This will be a real fine-tuning. `We did whatever you asked us to do': All American officials I've talked to repeat the same thing: `On every issue that you deemed important, we supported you. We only failed to keep the promise we made about the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). And we fully intend to keep that in the fullness of time.' The examples they cite are these: - Despite incredible pressure exerted by the Armenian lobby, President Bush did not use the term `Armenian genocide.' You can't say the same about many of your other allies. - Despite incredible pressure exerted by the Greek lobby, we made sure a delegation visited the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC). No one else did that. - We supported you in the IMF and will continue to do so. - We openly argue that Turkey needs to become an EU member. The statement made by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice makes that clear. After listing everything they have done, Americans ask: `So what have you done for us lately?' This is a behind-the-scenes outlook of tomorrow's meeting between Erdogan and Bush." http://groong.usc.edu/news/msg115211.html
