Guest Posted January 24, 2001 Report Share Posted January 24, 2001 OPERA TO BE PERFORMED AT SAN FRANCISCO OPERA THEATRE YEREVAN, JANUARY 19, ARMENPRESS According to the Voice of America, the San Francisco Opera Theatre has included a well-known Armenian composer Armen Tigranian's Arshak II opera in its 2001-2002 repertoire along with 89 other works.The opera, which was written in 1868, but has never been staged, will be performed in Armenian.Zhirayr Svazlian, a violinist in San Francisco theatre talked the director Mansuri into staging the Armenian opera. Armenian musicologist Hayk Avakian and playwright Zhirayr Papazian will also help to stage it. The conductor will be Loris Chgnavorian.
