More detail regarding Weems' criminal record

Compliments of the AAA:

* In 1974, Weems was "tried and found guilty of serious violations of the

Code of Professional Conduct." He was subsequently disbarred as a lawyer on

charges of "mixing clients' money with his own." In 1975, the Arkansas

Supreme Court upheld the disbarment, saying, "the action of (Weems) in

dealing with his clients was a continuing one of fraud, deceit,

misrepresentation and dishonesty." Weems' four appeals for reinstatement

were unsuccessful. The Arkansas Board of Law Examiners denied the 1988

appeal on the basis that he "engaged in the unauthorized practice of law and

did not meet his financial obligations."

* In 1975 an Arkansas Circuit Court jury found Weems "guilty of arson and

conspiring to defraud an insurance firm." Weems was sentenced to "serve five

years of a 10-year sentence on the arson charge with the remainder of the

sentence suspended." On a misdemeanor charge involving conspiracy to commit

a felony, Weems was sentenced to a 360-day county jail term. These

convictions were reversed on a technicality: the Arkansas Supreme Court

ruled that the Circuit Court judge gave an erroneous instruction to the jury

but the underlying facts on which he was found guilty were not changed or

questioned.

* In 1977, a civil jury found Weems guilty of conspiring to commit an arson

and ordered him and a co-conspirator to pay $30,000 to an insurance company.

* In 1982, Weems pleaded guilty to writing a hot check, a misdemeanor in

Arkansas.

* Twice, in 1994 and 1998, Weems ran for mayor of Hazen, losing both times.

Local courts threw out his appeals questioning the legality of the

elections' outcome.

If this is the best the MIT can do we will overcome. What a bunch of bumbling foolsthey are.

As for Clinton, no evidence of financial wrongdoing was found with Whitewater or any other financial dealings. Why were you conservative donkeys so fascinated with Clinton's pants zipper? Huh? Even your beloved Steve Samuelian and your beloved Congressman Calvert have had similar DEALINGS with women not their wives.

And Weems's reply. Didn't I tell you all it was a set-up to destroy Armenian credibility? Discounting extreme insanity on Weems's part (to write such a letter) that's what it now appears to be.

Mr. Emil Sanamyan Research and Information Associate Armenian Assembly of America

Mr. Sanamyan:

I am writing to respond to your email to me dated February 13, 2002. Please be advised as follows regarding your offer to make a "correction" if I not am the Sam Weems you are talking about. Let us be very clear with each other-however you explain it-I am the Sam Weems you have attacked and libeled!

I say to you yet one more time -I HAVE NEVER BEEN CONVICTED OF A FELONY IN DEWITT, ARKANSAS OR ANYWHERE ELSE AS YOUR CLAIM AND PUBLISH! It is to my astonishment that you continue to print and reprint this false statement. I do not understand why your "research" department has not yet taken the very basic action to verify if I am a truth teller. You could have called the Criminal Court in DeWitt, Arkansas to determine if I had been convicted there-yet you continue to refuse to do this basic research! You could have called the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette to determine if the article you use as your source is correct-yet you refuse to do that either! My question is this: Why do you fail and refuse to check truth when it is readily available, and said to you over and over again exactly where you can prove truth for yourself?

Permit me to help your "Research Department" find truth that I am not a convicted felon:

* I will be pleased to provide you with the name of the Criminal Court in DeWitt, Arkansas.

* I will be pleased to provide you with the telephone number of the Criminal Court in DeWitt, Arkansas.

* I will be pleased to provide you with the name of the clerk of the Criminal Court in DeWitt, Arkansas.

* I will be pleased to provide you with the address of the Criminal court in DeWitt, Arkansas, and the directions of how to get there if you want to go and check the records for yourself.

* If you want to fly to Little Rock, Arkansas, I will be delighted to drive you to the Courthouse in DeWitt, Arkansas. In that way you can more quickly examine all of the actual records for yourself.

* I will be pleased to provide you and your entire "research" department with this information to assist you in making the smallest effort of making one simple telephone call. You will see that it will take only a few minutes to check to see if I am a truth teller when I say to you I have never-never-ever been convicted of a felony as you allege in your daily publications over and over again!

Mr. Sanamyan, for your information, I have spoken with the editors and the attorney for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. These gentlemen stated that neither you, nor any Armenian has ever called to verify the statement and article you claim to quote from their publication.

Because you and your "research" department refuse to call this newspaper that you quote here in Arkansas, I am advised that the editor of the newspaper will contact you in writing to confirm to you and the Armenian Assembly of America the following truth that;

1. Sam Weems has never been convicted of a felony.

2. You and the Armenian Assembly of America are wrong and in error to quote the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette as your source, claiming that Sam Weems is a convicted felon.

Come on down to Arkansas and I will personally take you to meet with the editors and the attorney for the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. You can ask these gentlemen face to face about your claim that I am a convicted felon. Come on down and I will be delighted to prove to you-face to face-that what you have printed about me is a total lie!

In your last e-mail, you said that if I could prove I wasn't the Sam Weems in question, you would make a "correction." Mr. Sanamyan: This is an insult! It is your false accusations in your articles and your smear campaign that has caused me to receive hundreds of death threats and hate mail from Armenians around the world. I take such threats seriously!

I tell you plainly that you and the Armenian Assembly of America will be held responsible if any harm comes to me because of the continuation of your false and untrue publication of the great lie about me. I also tell you plainly that I have asked for police protection because of the terrorist record of Armenian Americans here in the United States of America.

[i have ommitted a particularly rambling section here! - steve]

....now then-back to the reason for this e-mail. I trust that you will choose to take the right and fair action, and permit me to assist you to prove that I am not a convicted felon nor am I a racist or your other made up tall tales you printed. Come on down to Arkansas and let me prove it to you. You will discover, for example that I have an unblemished record on civil rights. Armenia can't say that! If you do not choose to be honest, and if you do not choose to be fair-well-Mr. Sanamyan, that is what we have courts for in this country. This is not a "threat" as you have published-it is a "promise" that if you do not work out a written agreement with me, I make you this "vow"--that we shall meet in a non-Armenian court of law here in the United States of America. I would suggest that it is past time for the Armenian Assembly of America to hire a good lawyer to see exactly where you stand before you continue printing your big lie about me. I trust that you will promptly reply to this message, after consulting with your legal counsel. I trust that the Armenian Assembly of America will have the common sense to stop printing their horrible made up tall tales about me, make a public apology, and sign an agreement with me to right its great wrong. End of Story!

Yours truly,

Sam Weems

The Arkansas Democrat Gazette (mentioned by Weems) has a website.

http://library.ardemgaz.com

There is stuff abour Weems on it, eg: it says he was a former prosecuting attorney who was disbarred in 1973. To get more info you need to pay $1.95 per article.

You would think the AAA would have done such a search, to get properly documented evidence, but it appears they didn't. Maybe they thought $1.95 was too much to pay!

I think Weems is playing with words when he talk about "felony" O.K lets say not felony what about the rest ? He claim to be a Lawyer and a judge in his web-site, thats illegal, I think this is why he is not maing much noises about it.
