Artur Gharibian Museum Opens in Yerevan

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)--A museum of Artur Gharibian, a painter, sculptor, ARF party member, and participant in the struggles for the liberation of Artsakh, was opened in Yerevan on December 16. The museum features the works, personal belongings, photographs, and medals of the freedom fighter who died in 1992 at the age of 25, defending the land of Artsakh.

Among those who spoke at the opening ceremony were Gharibian's companions-in-arms, representatives of the Ministry of Culture, and Youth Affairs and Sport, members of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, and Major-General Arkady Ter-Tadevossian who directed the military operation that led to the liberation of the strategically important town of Shushi. Artur's friends spoke of his high qualities as a warrior, who fought proceeding from his ideological beliefs. Soldiers recalled the days when Artur and many other worthy Armenian youths, leaving their work and education half-finished, joined the struggle for the liberation of Artsakh.

The initiative of establishing Artur Gharibian's museum belonged to his mother Gohar and became possible largely thanks to her efforts. Artur Gharibian would have been 33 on the day when the museum opened.
