Making A Dvd From Bunch Of Avi's

I have a bunch of downloaded mpeg4 AVI's that are 512 x 384 (4:3 aspect ratio) and AC3 audio. Each one is about 350MB in size. The video streams are 126kbps at 23 frames/sec and the audio streams are 192kbps.

Is there a way to easily throw a bunch of these on a DVD such that they'll play on regular dvd players? I realize they have to be converted to mpeg2 but I've searched the web and there are like a gazillion ways to do it and I was wondering if any one here has already done something like this.

My regular nero can only fit about 2 or 3 of these files per 4.7 Gig DVD and I want to fit something like 10 or 12 of them. I don't care much about the quality drop.

I looked at a few little utilities I found on google. WinAVI (winavi.com) seems to be what I need but it crashes on mine. Then there is DIKO which is freewhere that I haven't yet figured out how to get to work (well, I haven't read the insturctions :)) but seems promising.

At first I was thinking it would be an easy conversion but then I realized the files are mpeg4 so I shouldn't expect to get good quality if I try to compress them to the same size to DVD.
