Iran01
I always been interested of this Armenian (Yeprem khan) in Iranian consitutional movement around 1900 . He was one para-military leader among several leaders who marched into Tehran and forced the last Qajar Shah into exile and stabilished constitutional monarchy in Iran. Later he became police master of Iran ........... Anyway, he was involved in several unclear actions during the movement and later got killed. recently there has been two new theory published: 1. He was killed by the order of central government in Iran .... 2. He was secret member of Dashnak party. The article says he was from Karabagh/ Ganja.... http://www.police.ir/about%20police/tarikhche-ghajar.htm http://www.roshangari.net/mashroteh/dehkhoda.html http://iichs.org/new_namayeshgah/aks%20sheikh%20fazlolah%20nori/link/images/7.jpg
Artsakh
Yes, he was a member of the Dashnak political party. He was born in Kantzag. He took part in the expedition of gougounian and was exiled to Sakhalin. He escaped and went to Iran, where he joined the ARF party and became a field worker. He killed a lot of traitors who were responsible for a massacre of fellow friends in the village of Mahlam; the informer Zakeh was killed by him. He became glorious during the iranian revolution, when he occupied Rasht and enzeli, Kharzan and ghazvin with a small group of men. He then entered Tehran victorious, where he was appointed the chief of police. Though an Armenian nationalist himself, he is considered the big hero of the Iranian liberation movement. He was killed in hamadan during a battle against the counter-revoltionary forces on April 25 in 1912.

Iran01
Though an Armenian nationalist himself, he is considered the big hero of the Iranian liberation movement. style_images/master/snapback.png Thank you Artsakh and Mosjan! Yes, there were several war-leader known as "sardar" or "khan" who became very famous for thier heroic acts at that time such as: Sattar khan, Bagher khan, Sardar Asad, Sardar Tonekaboni and ofcource Yephrem Khan. What makes Yephrem khan unique is his origin ( An Armenian from outside Iran ) and quick progress as chief of Police. What I understood Yephrem khans affection to Iranian constitutional movment got back to his hatred towards Russians. The Qajar and one fraction of Mullahs were pro-Russians. The Russians were rulling Iran from Shahs court! It seems to me he understood that very well. He was one of two war leader who fought the Shahs pro-Russians-troop for a second time and defeated him for good. Other thing he understood very well was to be quick in his actions. When constitutionalist decided to hang Sheykh Noori, Yephrem khan as police chief was very quick to hang him. ( Otherwise Russians were good to save the ass of those anti-constitutionalist-mullahs ) http://iichs.org/new_namayeshgah/aks%20sheikh%20fazlolah%20nori/9.jpg ps , Yephrem Khans personal notes, letter has been translated into Persian and been published! http://www.ichodoc.ir/wp/00006/00006559.htm Edited April 18, 2005 by Iran01
