Leon Tutunjian (1904-1967) Armenian Painter

My cousin is doing research on Leon Tutunjian for her thesis. She plans on interviewing his children in France at some point in the future. Anyone have any books or information on him? She is aware of one book written on him, but it did not include any discussion on the impact of being Armenian and the Genocide on his work. That will be the focus of her work.

Thanks! I can't remember if it's for her doctorate or master's thesis. She was an auditor, but around age 40ish, she decided she really wanted to study art. Her goal is to open Armenian art museum in Los Angeles. As part of her program at UCLA, she recently spent some time in Boston working with their Armenian art museum.

 

She probably knows all there is out there about Mr. Tutunjian, but you never know. Many people on this forum are so well-informed.

Is your cousin studying at high school or college?? And if so what is it?

 

I'm afraid I cant give you names of libraries in Glendale! (if that is where she lives) Some in North Finchley help at all? Thought not ..

 

I wish I could give some advice - the only I can is to do proper searches on the internet. Now I don't just mean entering his name in the serch engines. That is really just a recipe for wading through loads she doen't want then getting pissed off. The internet is an excellent research tool ONLY WHEN USED PROPERLEY! (that is really the whole point why I bought mine)

 

Find out how each engine works best - for example -

 

- Netscape is good when you enter

Leon Tutunjian AND biography. Leon Tutnjian AND family. Leon Tutnjian AND work. (What is she actually LOOKING for?) A few, but good quality articles show.

 

- Alta Vista is excellent if name is just entered. There are namy categories on it's search page. Many sites appear but less good quality.

 

Something also worth doing, is a search of libraries local to her, find out their web pages, then look/search for information on armenian paiters, and the artist.
