Manuk

Manuk, Mankik, Menu/Manu, Mini

.

We already know that "manuk" means child.

It is from the native Armenian PIE root of "menu" to mean small, dimninutive. In the text the E in "menu" is inverted to denote that it was originally pronounced as the English E as "end" or as the A in "man".

See also another variant- "manr", small.

I don't know what to call it, is it "over compensation" , or as Nairi would put it-"hyper correction". Hyperbole, in any case, when we take a word like "menu/manu" which in itself means "small" and add a diminutive(endearing) suffix and get "manu-k". As if that (duplication) was not enough we go even further and compose words like "mankik/man-k-ik" (triplication?).

Does it make the word even more diminutive and endearing?

It probably does.

Then what does it do the child?

How much smaller can a child get?

Not to forget the European (Latin) "mini".

Eeni meeni myni mo,

Catch the monkey by the toe! :) :)
