Ok. i recently ordered a dell gen 4 xps with ati radeon x850xt pe. I was wondering if anyone else has ordered one of those systems? I looked at ati's website they say that it supports video input. I called dell and they told me it does not. i'm confused. should i send back their stupid system? if anyone has one of those systems, did you try to capture video with this video card? doe is work or not? btw ati says that the graphic card comes with cables that allow you to capture video. The dell system doesn't come with such cables for svido/composite vivo. i'm confused. :msn-cry:

here's a pic of the card. is this the same one as yours?( the one on left) with 2 outputs for monitors and an svideo plug?

thanks

I am guessing the one that comes in the Dell system in not an actual "ATi" card ... it has the ATi chip. There are other RADEON X850XT boards such as the HIS, Connect3D, MSI (?), ... that do not have the VIVO port while the ATi board does.

When I was looking to buy my Raedon 9600XT board, I specifically went with ASUS because they were one of the only ones that had video in on their board.

Don't sweat it too much man ... you can get a video in card for like $30 ... like this. I just did a quick search and I don't know about the details of that specific one ... but capture cards are cheap and then there are USB ones for like $100.

If you're in LA, just go to fry's and I'm sure you'll find something cheap.

Edit: Like this one that even has a TV tuner.
