Anybody an author here?

If you were to write a book what would it be? (fiction, nonfiction, instructional, philosophical, essays, short stories, poetry, romance, analysis, memoirs, etc.). I am not only refering to what you would want to write but even more so what you would feel most capable at. I for one would love to have the ability to write a fiction novel with a lot of philosophical implications. I can't do it however. I think I would be best at writing an analysis or a satire (depending on the topic).

Interesting timing...

 

Just today I was thinking about devoting more time to serious writing as a part of major restructuring of my life (impressions of the day thread)

 

For now it'd have to be fiction (I intend on writing analytical non fiction later in my life); I think my message would be communicated better through short stories or even plays. My writing would probably be defined as belonging to the realist genre. I find depictions of conflict/drama in everyday life and everyday people most powerful. And surprise surprise, the experience of women, especially armenian women, would be a major theme, interwoven with various social and psychological threads. Although I do suspect "critics" would have me committed to a mental institution in no time...lol

 

I'll take your post as a sign and put a move on it. First step: translating my play from spanish into english so that our wonderful Garik can help me share it with you guys

Good luck, Gayane!

I've always been amazed at how a good fiction writer can come up with a complicated, twisted plot that usually has so many implications and interpretations. But I don't think that they mean to imply everything that they do. I mean they are just responsible for geting the story out, and all the interpretations are left to the reader. I still wonder what inspires a writer though, and even more so what enables him/her to turn those inspirations into a story with a conflict.

What "inspires" me to write (prompts might be a better choice): usually a dramatic/dynamic development in my life or an equally important realization or an observation about some aspect of my life or the people in my life that has larger social/emotional/ psychological implications

 

What leads me to pen it: that's an interesting question; I dont' think I know. I think if I was consciously aware of the reason I wouldn't be able to write.
