Armenian Singers

Artsakh

Recommended Posts

Artsakh, I know the family.  I know the type of a man that he is.  He grew up few houses down from me.  I have heard him try to sing and the guy at best is a mediocre singer.  That is the best thing that I can say about him.  And as far as Anoushiks comments I support it 110%.  If Harut or Paul or any of thees wannabe singers are our best then we are doomed.

But I guess it has to do with taste,  You apparently like that genre, Anoushik loves classical music and I love NPR

Artsakh, I know the family. I know the type of a man that he is.

---tell me what does his family and the type of man he is have to do with his talent?

He grew up few houses down from me.

---how old are u?

That is the best thing that I can say about him.

-is that suppose to change the fact that he's a legend and that he's the most popular and loved armenian singer?

I have heard him try to sing and the guy at best is a mediocre singer.

---well, you certainly seem to fall into a minority category. "mediocre" HAHAHAHA, WOWWW!!!!! do u have something personal against him? i mean if thats the case, just come out and say so.

And as far as Anoushiks comments I support it 110%. If Harut or Paul or any of thees wannabe singers are our best then we are doomed.

--- 110%? how is that possible? "wanna be" singers?? HAHAHA. you crack me up, honestly. he is more popular and loved than anyother singer i could think of.

But I guess it has to do with taste,

---everything is a matter of taste, however, there is even limits to how absurd one can be regarding the talents of the greatest singer EVER.

You apparently like that genre,

--- ya, me an approx. 9 million other armenians.

Anoushik loves classical music and I love NPR

--- i am big fan of komitas and katcharyan also, also non armenian composers like mozart and beethoven, but there is no actual singing going on there. i don't know what NPR is. but nonetheless, it seems that neither of u are big fans of armenian music in general, so i guess this isn't the best thread you people could contribute to.

I have several thousand mp3s but the 85 or so of Harut Pamboukjian that I have are by faaaaaar the most played. Anytime I'm flying or driving long distances I am in the Harut directory playing songs and singing along... and I mean EVERY trip.

I think Harut is by far the best singer ever.

The only time I don't play his songs is while working out or shooting hoops.

Sure! Harut was singing at my friend's wedding where I was the best man ... in my toast speech I quoted some parts from Tariner and gave credit to Harut ... he got really happy and said in ALL his years he had never seen such a good best man speech at a wedding!!!! Then he gave me a hug on the stage :D

Oh and Ardun mnanq minchev luys is one of my favorites ... it's very x-rated but I love it!

You are right, for you he is, but yet when he tries do sell tickets at the Alex(1000-1500 seats) he can even sell that out, yet people like Tata and Nune come and sell the Universal Amphitheater and the Kodak theater. Artsakh, I won't go into yet another discussion of today's Armenian pop/rabiz music. I've done plenty of that in this forum.

I just want to point out that the majority is not always right, especially when it concerns the pop culture. In the end you always have someone who leads the majority like sheep.

Also, your claims of Harout's popularity are very exaggerated. And what makes him a legend? He is just a popular entertainer in the diaspora. That's all.

PS. I love Armenian music. Unfortunately it's really hard to find current tasteful Armenian singers. I think Shushan is great. I also love Robert Amirkhanian's songs. Yes, I guess at the end it does come to individual taste, no doubt about that. But just because you like a certain singer doesn't mean that he is a legend.

i think that quote says it all.

it seems to me you and azat have something personal against this king of Armenian music.

geez, your words are so absurd that you can't even lie right. I am exaggerating his popularity? well, if thats the case, then it's nice to know that you recognize that he's popular.

harout is popular in and out of Armenia. he is the most popular, loved, and greatest singer ever. his voice is Gold.

It is know as building a case. to show that I know him and I am not some kid talking out of my behind.

---what does knowing him have to do w/ anything? I’ve met the guy myself on several occasions. In addition to being the absolute best singer ever, he is also one hell of a guy.

74 but why does that matter

--well I was just wondering if you saw him grow up, how old you were.

He is a legend in his own mind and in the mind of few diaspora Armenians who were deprived of any Armenian music in the 70s and 80s and all they had was Harut and Paul.

---- I have met harout on several occasions. And one thing I can tell you he is not a conceded man. He sits down with all types of people and respects them all. He is a legend, inspiration, and idol to me and millions more on top of me. Since when were diaspora Armenians deprived of Armenian music in the 70’s and 80’s??? how about adis harmandyan? Maxim? Aram asaturyan? On top of many others. Where do u come up with these stuff?

I have nothing personally against him. Nor his family and have been to many parties where he and the family have been present.

---- I am convinced that you have something personal against this legend.

I guess you need to go and learn a bit about what figure of speech. You are right, for you he is, but yet when he tries do sell tickets at the Alex(1000-1500 seats) he can even sell that out, yet people like Tata and Nune come and sell the Universal Amphitheater and the Kodak theater. The last concert Harut gave was for about 200 people in Downtown LA a month or 2 ago.

---- BOLONY!!! lol. That hilarious! Where do u get these statistics from? All harout concerts I go to are jam packed. The last one I went to a few months ago was jam-packed as usual. Are u telling me that you don’t like his singing yet you go to everyone of his concerts?

Some great singer. he has to sing at weddings to support the family. I bet that is what most of the greatest singers in other counties do too.

--- uhhh, that’s what singers do! Aram, his son artashes, maxim, paul, tata, armenchik, tatoul, gagik gevoryan, etc… are just a few the singers who sang at weddings I’ve gone to. And the amount of money they make from each wedding is more than enough for a luxury lifestyle.

Dude, slap yourself to reality. when was the last time you heard about a sold out concert of this great singer who has 9 million supporters?

---- uhh, the last concert I went to about 5 months ago?

I must be anti Armenian since I do nto support Harut.

--- you certainly are

I used to like Harut and Paul a lot when I was a teenager. But I never ever liked Aram Asatryan, his doze of rabiz is way too much for me. I used to fight with my brother not to play that music at home because it made me really sick.

Actually I think both Harut and Paul are OK for weddings, qef, parties, etc. but for aesthetic pleasure they are not good.

pop in one of his albums into a cd player and you'll see why.  his voice is excellent, this man was born to sing.  he doesn't just sing, he sings his heart out.  he's the best armenian entertainer, and a true legend of armenian music.

Paul baghdadlian is another superb, one of a kind singer.

style_images/master/snapback.png

Agreed. He sings all the good songs, and he sings with passion. He used to have an awesome voice, now hes getting old, but he's still good in my opinion. Paul has some good songs too, but he deosnt have a good voice. He also sings with passion, whichis why i like him too

I like Maxim, and Vatche and Andre Danik and Martin Yorgantz and another ParsgaHye singer I can't remember now,he is short and dark,I see him playing with Persian bands often now..anyways I like these singers cause they remind of my high shcool days more then anything...

I like a lot of the new young singers from Armenia...except when the music sounds Turkish, then it disgusts me,but that type of music is popular too,and if it didnt' sell they wouldn't make that music I suppose..

I like Sako,Tata...there are so many...like I said before it just depends on my mood.

Paul Baghdadlian makes me sick. His movements can cause seizures I hear ;)

All I can think of when he is singing or talking is how many lines of cocaine he did before he got up on stage,blaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...

Oh if anyone has a chance, watch Demq's new video...where they impersonate Armenian singers..most of it is hillarious!Especially their imitation of Paul...too funny! ;)

style_images/master/snapback.png

Paul is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than Sako. Sako doesnt even sing with his own voice!!!

Obviously you havent heard his old songs. Listen to Esor Arazn es gnatsel. Songs like "yerker, yerker" messed uphis reputation, but his old songs are very good.
