I know we got some guys/girls who know about these things around here, so I'm taking any suggestions. Looking for 27" and probably not more than 400$. I had the best Sony Triniton when I was in Japan and I couldn't bring it home because it was going to cost more to ship it than i paid for it! Any let me know your ideas or suggestions. Merci. I got the 36" for my parents a few years ago and it has lasted great. I think you may be able to get the 24 or 27 in that price range but I haven't checked. I personally have been looking at LCD projectors ... they have come done quite a bit in price and for around $1500, you can get a pretty good one that can project to around 9 feet diagonal!!!! Now there is NO TV that can compare to that, for that price!!!! The downside is you have to probably replace the bulb every year or so depending on how much you use it which could set you back around $250 easy, each time. But yah, I would either buy a high end plasma or LCD ($$$$), a projector ($$$), or a low end WEGA XBR for a small room ($). The other option you may think about is a good sized LCD for your PC that can take TV type input (RCA). So you can use it for the PC or switch to the game. I'm actually wanting an S-Video input to help with my colors and resolution for gaming. I found a Toshiba 20AF44, 27" flat screen type on Amazon for just over 300$. So there are some deals out there, just have to look. I have an entertainment center that I recently got, and I kind of want to "fit" my TV in there instead of getting a new center, therefore I'm confined to a 27" at the most for the moment. Sip Posted November 9, 2004 Report Share Posted November 9, 2004 Actually, my Dad came and stayed with me for a week last august ... so since I don't have a TV, I was out looking for exactly what you are describing. Sam's Club (very similar to Costco) had some pretty good flat screens ... a panasonic and another one that I don't remember the brand but it was flat and 27" and had a really good picture quality for under $300. There were also a couple of open boxes at best buy that I liked but in the end, I decided to save my money since I knew dad was going back to LA in a few days and I wasn't going to use it. Right now, I just have a dual monitor setup on my PC with a 22" main monitor (CRT) and a 19" Dell LCD. I usually maximize my TV window on the 19" (on the side) and work on the 22". Seems to work well ... especially since the satelite box I have doesn't have a working program guide so I open an online program guide on one monitor and watch on the other! This word is alien in the technology vocabulary. The answer to your question is never. What I know is that my monitor does 12 ms, and it has been in the market for a year or so. It's as well a Samsung. But why any gamer will want an LCD, when the best CRT monitors can be obtained at the fraction of the cost? LCD is still not for gaming. My LCD is OK for graphic, but it doesn't beat my Viewsonic graphic series GF775 that was using LG Flatron tube. But for text and visual fatigueless viewing, I think nothing beats an LCD. LCD is still not for gaming. i know i know i was just having a nightmare when i asked the question P.S. lcd looks professional, is a spacesaver and gives alot less eye strain. i really don't understand the word pro gamer. even under 20ms there's very unnoticable ghosting for the heavy games. i mean you'd play a few games now and then and 12-16 ms for lcd is pretty good. the rest of time you'll use it for everyday things. I will be watching TV on this, but I do care more if the gaming display is a higher level. On TV I just mostly watch Basketball games and the History channel.
