Guest Posted February 15, 2001 Report Share Posted February 15, 2001 Does anyone know of a website with historical photos & discussion on Dikranegert (now Diyarbekir)? My grandmother says her family lived near Sourp Sarkis, but besides that she does not know whereabout they lived in the city. I've searched on "Diyarbekir" and come across a few turkish sites, but nothing from an Armenian perspective. A year or so ago, UCLA did a conference on the city (that I missed!), but I've recently gotten a hold of the handouts and am going to get a video, but otherwise I do not have anything. Maybe they were friends with my grandmother!I guess she would have been in her late 90's , had she been alive. I suggest you try to locate any Dikranagertsis union ("Dikranagertsinerou Miyoutioun" ) in LA. There must be one. Ask your priest or any Armenian organization. There is one for the Zeituntsis in LA and they have managed to compile a Video, with a trip to current Zeitun (Suleymanli) and some personal 'survivor' stories of Zeituntsis.I guess there should be a similar union of Dikranagetsi.If you manage to find them, just let us know about it. Pilafhead Posted February 19, 2001 Report Share Posted February 19, 2001 Raffi, Alright! A few years ago, I did find out about a local group of Dikranagertsis that meet once a year in Los Angeles. What's interesting about that is, both my grandparents are Dikranagertsis who moved to Los Angeles in 1940. They never knew of this group. Is it a Tashnag organization?
