actor Azat Gasparyan dies at 69 The merited Armenian cinema and theatre actor Azat Gasparyan died Friday afternoon at age 69, an actor of the Sundukyan State Academic Theatre Armen Marutyan has told Tert.am. Gasparyan passed away days after being hospitalized at the Nairi Medical Center. A graduate of the Yerevan Institute of Cinema and Theatre, Gasparyan has been a famous actor at the Yerevan Theatre of Young Spectator (1963-1965 ) and the Sundukyan Academic Theatre (1971-1979). He has also played in televised performances. Gasparyan's role in the film "Pangs of Childbirth" (where the actor played the role of the renowned poet Yeghishe Charents) is especially unforgettable. The popular actor has played in about 23 feature films, He is best known to the Armenian public from the films "Mechanics of Happiness", "The Old Days' Song", "White Dreams", "The Tango of Our Childhood", "Merry Bus" etc. In 2005, Gasparyan received the Honorable Resident of Yerevan award. In 2010 and 2010, he was honored with the William Saroyan and Movses Khorenatsi medals.
