Hi everyone! I'm an anthropology major at CSUN. Presently I am taking a class in folklore, in which we are collecting various types of Armenian American folklore for a future publication. The project that we are working on right now is about foods. If anyone would like to help me out, answer some questions and provide some insight, I would be very grateful.
What I am looking for in regards to food is one of the following:
a specific food/recipe prepared for a specific occasion (such as weddings, holiday, custom, etc)
a food that Armenians do not eat due to a religious and/or cultural reason
a food/recipe that is very near and dear to your heart, perhaps a special dish that a relative would make especially for you
Once the food/recipe is identified, I'd need the following answered.
When is this food partaken?
Why is this food important to you, your family, your culture?
What does this food mean to you?
How do you feel when you partake of this food?
Then there are some basic questions in regards to you specifically...which you can leave blank and remain anonymous within the publication.
Are you Armenian American?
Do you identify with Armenia or America more?
How ingrained is the Armenian culture/customs are you?
What is your age bracket? (such as teens, 20s, 30s, etc)
Are you male or female?
What is your relationship status? If you have children, do you raise them to have Armenian traditions?
If you are a student, what do you study and why?
If you work, what is your professional field, and why did you choose that for a career?
Again, I appreciate any and all help that you may offer.
