I think that sexuality depends on a combination of different factors, and it's very relative. Everyone has different preferences. Surely, personality probably plays an important role, but you guys shouldn't deny that we often say that someone's sexy judging by a picture. I guess a well shaped body is sexy, eyes with mystical look are sexy, voice, moves and manners in general can be sexy.

Armine, hun I don’t wanna argue with you on this matter, I just express my personal opinion. In fact, I am sure that you’re a lot more familiar with our contemporary Armenian music, than I am. Actually, I don’t even know most of our singers by name. But I can see the general image of our modern music. Of course, not everyone is rabiz or imitating foreign songs. I have to accept that both Shushan Petrosyan and Alla Levonyan have a very beautiful voice and can sing well. Some of them have one or two songs, which sound really good. But I guess the artists mentioned above don’t really differ from each other that much, they don’t have an original style. To me, most of their songs are dull. Can you please enlighten me on what you consider modern Armenian music to be and how much you know who the modern Armenian singers are, also tell me how familiar you actually are to make a comment that displaces some of our honorary modern Armenian musicians today that are working around the clock to compose "true" Armenian music. Its very easy for you to sit and discredit them insteading honoring them and the time and energy they put into making modern Armenian music. waiting for your response. ************************************************** Armine, In my opinion, modern Armenian music tends to favor Rabiz a lot, which I totally dislike. I don't see anything innovative and interesting in the current music trends (in Armenia). We've been talking a lot here of System of a Down so I'd like to express my own point of view about them. I respect the band a lot not only cuz they play heavy metal excellently but they could play rock integrating Armenian motifs and creating original & beautiful sounds. Living in Armenia, I partly know what’s our modern music is all about. My ears don’t accept rabiz or the songs performed by Armenian music artists which imitate Western (American and European) or Asian styles, some just take the foreign melody and put some stupid lyrics to it. Now they got this Top 10 and stuff like that on TV, and every time I try to find out what’s going on in Armenian Show Biz., I get more disappointed. If you visit dance clubs in Armenia, you’ll see that they rarely put Armenian music, cuz it doesn’t make you feel dancing. I like Armenian classical music performers though. It takes lots of efforts, practice and time to be able to sing perfectly every note for classical compositions. Some of the singers do really a good job here. I know them, I like them and honor them for their achievements. Too bad some of them routinely immigrate to countries, which tend to promise better carrier opportunities for them. Though after some days it’ll be clear who will be the president of RA, it’s still interesting to exchange with ideas about the upcoming presidential election. Well, as everybody already knows there are mainly three strong candidates Robert Kocharyan, Stepan Demirchian and Artashes Geghhamian. Robert Kocharyan=> Acting President of Republic of Armenia. In 1994, Robert Kocharian was elected the first President of Nagorno-Karabagh. His main political interest is the resolution of Nagorno-Artsax conflict. Russia strongly supports his candidacy. " Five more years, and the country’s face, standing and quality will change. And I call on you to build that country together [with me],” Kocharian The Armenian leader is relying heavily on the so-called "power class," made up of senior civil servants, government-connected business people, and several loyal parties. They all have a vested interest in Kocharian's continued rule. Sure, Russia will support Robert’s Candidacy after passing Armenia's state property (enterprises) to Russia to pay off our debt (the total amount of Armenia's debt to Russia equals $98 million). To me, he's done very few in the sphere of economics, no incentives for developing business and nothing done to minimize the corruption. Stepan Demirchyan=> Robert’s Opposition leader Stepan Demirchian Stepan Demirchian, the leader of the opposition People’s Party of Armenia (HZhK). People primarily regard as the son of Karen Demirchian, the assassinated parliament speaker and Soviet Armenia’s Communist boss in 1974-1988. I guess they think that " ptux@ dzaric heru chi @nknum". He claimed Sunday to be heading for a victory in next Wednesday’s presidential election in front of tens of thousands of supporters in Yerevan that gathered for Armenia’s largest anti-government rally in years. He's being often crtisized for poor oratorical skills. I think he will win the first round, I am not sure about the second one though. Artashes Geghamian: Artashes Geghamian is the outspoken leader of the center-left National Accord Party. Owing to his populist appeal, Geghamian made a strong showing in the 1999 parliamentary elections and is now seeking to represent the entire opposition in the February election. Geghamian indicated last summer that he will run for president even if he fails to rally other major opposition parties around his candidacy. He's being critised for demagogy. You see, it is very difficult to choose a president from the ones listed above. I am sceptic about the potential of these candidates but I guess I'll vote for Demirchyan as he is Kocharyan's strongest opposition. And of course, I am sure that they will try to falsify the results as usual (this especially concern Robert Kocharian). So, we just try to take it easy here.

I guess this should be an interesting article for the ones who are interested in the upcoming elections. Of all nine candidates vying for the Armenian presidency President Robert Kocharian has enjoyed by far the most extensive and positive media coverage during the first three weeks of campaigning, according to an independent media watchdog. The first findings of a comprehensive monitoring conducted by the Yerevan-based Caucasus Media Institute (CMI) show that Armenia’s main television stations are particularly supportive of Kocharian and critical of his challengers. The state-owned Armenian Public Television and virtually all major private networks are controlled by the presidential administration. “We can state that Robert Kocharian is the dominant actor in the media field and gets the bulk of election campaign coverage,” the deputy director of the institute, Mark Grigorian, told RFE/RL on Monday. “Not only in the form of news reports, but also analytical programs and commentaries.” Grigorian, echoing numerous opposition complaints, said many TV programs featuring Kocharian are tantamount to election propaganda, something which is prohibited by Armenia’s law on broadcasting. Article 11 of the law stipulates that television and radio stations can not air “propaganda material” in the form of news reports, analytical programs or documentaries. State television and other channels covered by the CMI monitoring have recently broadcast special programs casting the incumbent in positive light. One of them was meant to give Armenians rare insights into Kocharian’s personal life, featuring casual interviews with his wife and three children. The only major channel that often aired criticism of Kocharian, A1+, was controversially shut down last April. The Armenian authorities assured the Council of Europe and Western governments that A1+ will be able to resume broadcasts on another frequency and cover the February 19 elections. However, they have still not held a long-awaited competitive tender for several frequencies. Grigorian said although Armenia’s print media give a more diverse coverage of the campaign, they too pay greater attention to Kocharian. “Robert Kocharian remains the main election actor even if we look only at the opposition press,” he said.

I guess Armenian listeners don’t have a wide range of options to choose from Armenian music. Yeah, we’ve got some good music passed on to us from previous generations like Komitas, Sayat-Nova and others. But let’s admit that Armenian music culture comparing to others is quite poor, especially contemprorary armenian music seems really tasteless to me, I like neither the melody nor the lyrics. Unfortunately, modern Armenian music industry is low latent & low budget. Systemofayerevan: Hun, I don't think playing rock is a good choice for a wedding. I think Classical music of Mozart, Rossini, Beethoven , Handel, Shopen, Tchaikovsky can create a romantic mood for the celebration and for more festive atmopshere you can play some lively spanish music. In fact, recently researchers hold a meta-analysis in order to find an answer to the question “Should the sexual orientation of the parent play a part in the determination of custody or visitation in order to protect the child? “ The analysis included examination of parenting practices, emotional well-being of the child as well as the sexual orientation of the child. Results demonstrate no differences on any measures between the heterosexual and homosexual parents or children of those parents. Of course, only healthy heterosexual families can provide ideal parenting for the child but in some cases, I guess homosexual parents do a better job. Never read any books about child psychology, but I think it’s not a secret that child’s mind is very fragile and parents influence a lot in shaping it.

From the comments posted in this forum, I noted that many forum members have extreme looks on life; some of them are way too conservative, the others too open-minded. Concerning the topic above, I’d like to say that I am afraid that we’re gonna lose pretty soon the sense of “family”. I wouldn’t comment if it would concern a couple who has no children. But when you have a child, the one you are responsible for, a creature, which is not mentally formed yet you should consider the impact of your steps on their psychological development. Parent’s responsibility doesn’t end with feeding and clothing their children. At least, if they decide to have a life like this, they should hide it from their children. Tell me, how’re you gonna explain it to your 5 year old child? Children who grow in homosexual families don’t have this problem, because they see loving parents. For a child to feel secure and happy, it is important not only be loved by his parents but to see parents loving each other. Otherwise what is our difference from those of primitive societies? Highflyer you spoke from my heart. I totally agree that there is no age for love. There can be different reasons why you get to go out with older girls; ex. you look older than your age, the majority of women that surround you are older than you, your actual age is different from your psychological age ( by the way if you speak russian you can see what’s your psychological age here http://test.msk.ru/cgi-bin/steptest.cgi?009&0&0&282 ). Besides that, if you feel fine with older women, you shouldn’t worry what others think. If you were born Armenian whatever you do you’re going to stay Armenian. Maybe you associate being Armenian with being Christian. Having foreign friends, dating foreign guys, adopting foreign traditions, speaking foreign language or things like that won’t make you non-Armenian. I am glad that you got the chance to fulfill the desire to learn more about your culture and the language of origin. It’s nice to see Armenians abroad who know where they come from.

That’s the reason I think that Armenians who’ve immigrated to a foreign country don’t usually marry foreigners, but their children who’re raised in a foreign culture have a lot more chances to get married to a foreigner (from generation to generation the probability of marrying a foreigner is greater). I bet that Armenian from Armenia who is under the influence of Russian culture and the Armenian from US who is under influence of American culture has the same chances of a “happy” marriage as an Armenian-American with a so called “ American” from any origin. Of course, my point can be false for “ Glendale” city or any place were Armenians are grouped together. Don’t take it too close to your heart. I don’t say the ones who don’t live in Armenia are less armenian. . As I think that notion “ less Armenian” doesn’t exist. It’s just the reality facing the immigrants. Hi Accelerated, You see if we've the same opinion on this issue with THOTH it doesn't mean I am going to advocate him for all the threads he's written. Besides that I don't have that much time to go all over them. You should have forgotten a lot about armenia, how many years haven't u been here? Yeah, I live in Yerevan, not so far from the venter of the town. This year Yerevan is really messy as the roads are being reconsturcted. But I am sure they'll get them all done by next summer.

THOTH- It’s never late to visit Armenia, I am sure you’ll enjoy it. Living here for a long time is a bit complicated (conditions of living e.t.c.) but you’ll decide it for yourself after you come over. I think traveling is as fun as clubbing and it’ll be quiet educative for your kids. What concerns your wife, you should find something that’ll interest her in this trip, Hope she won’t be against. Just in case, I was born in RA, live here, I am Armenian by both sides of my parents, got Armenian citizenship, speak fluent Armenian. Let’s get on to your questions. I think every other person in Armenia speaks English already. So it’s not a big deal but in general I am good in languages. Besides that I’ve been to US for about a year, so that kinda explains. I met many white & black Americans with whom I still keep in touch and even here I have many American, French, german friends. It’s just a pity to realize that the racism exists in the 21st century. For me it’s also funny to see that the ones who post those kind of messages live abroad. I even start to think that Armenians living in Armenia are more open-minded that I’d imagine. The tourists visiting Armenia are very happy with the treatment they receive, some even prolong their visas or stay here. I do like clubbing and all sorts of discos. I think they’re lots of fun. Well, as everywhere clubbing is popular among young ppl but there are clubs which are visited also by elder ones. You should be enjoying working with bands. Being an Armenian doesn’t disturb you to be in good relations with ppl of other nationalities and having friends among them, it’s natural especially in the case of Armenians who live abroad. For avoiding this undesirable situation for you and having Armenians all around you there’s one excellent solution. Come to Armenia and live in your motherland. I think everybody here understands it his/her own way but sure you can’t judge who is more/less Armenian just b/c you live with some life standards which only work for You. ( ex. I totally dislike and frankly speaking am ashamed of Rabiz part of our nation, but for them being an Armenian is living a rabiz life which totally doesn’t work in my case). “ being Armenian “ is not smth religious, so in any case there can’t be more/less Armenians, though there can be good/bad one.
