  1. I noticed this a LONG long time ago!!! Thank you all for your lovely replies; I think I've got it now! (sort of....) I do like the idea of seperating Santa and Jesus, makes good sense. Sorry I forgot to mention Canada especially, Yervant, no offence meant
  2. Edit! Silly me! I forgot to say; thanks to you all for making me feel so welcome here, despite the fact that I don't have one drop of Armenian blood in me! Merry Christmas to you all, you're all lovely!
  3. I have no idea if this is the right place to post this; mods, please feel free to move! I was just wondering, do most Armenians still celebrate Christmas according to the old calender, ie on January 6th, or do you go with the majority of the Western world and celebrate on December 25th? Or maybe you do both? I'd be especially interested to hear from those that live in the west, like England and the US, and those who have children. If you still keep to old Christmas day, is it difficult with the commercialism and conformity to keep to the 'old ways'?
  4. hmmmm...guess it's just me then...? I've never watched 'Dexter'...I don't think it sounds like my kind of thing, somehow... I don't watch TV either, but I make exceptions for The Doctor, University Challenge and QI...
  5. oh. NOW it works....pooh, pooh, pooh...now I look like an idiot...not that THAT'S anything new...
  6. Any other Doctor Who fans here? Feel free to shoot me down in flames if you will, but I was re-watching some Doctor Who episodes today, and I got to thinking how very Armenian the new Doctor is in places... especially in 'Dalek' from series 1 and 'The Doctor's Daughter' from series 4, available to watch here; http://www.youtube.com/profile_play_list?user=Lwoblet hope this link works... (edit; ok, I can't make it a clickable link. Grrrrr. You'll just have to cut and paste it if you're in the least bit interested, sorry...I'll get my coat...)
  7. Er....Black Rock, Michael Brooke and Djivan Gasparyan Well, I like it... And before that, Euphoria Morning, by Chris Cornell.

Well; I thought coming fourth was great, I was ecstatic !
  9. I'd like to think it could happen, but I'n cynical... I don't think Turkey will ever give up Ararat, but to get Ani back would be good. I can't see any thing else being relinquished.
  10. today; Djivan Gasparyan Arcade Fire; Intervention; Windowsill My Chemical Romance; Blood; I'm Not Ok Audioslave; Broken City; I am the Highway Temple of the Dog; Say Hello to Heaven; Times of Trouble System of a Down; Soldier Side; Holy Mountain, P.L.U.C.K Soundgarden; Hands All Over; Blow up the Outside World; Fell on Black Days
  11. there has been a very heated and intense dabate about the Armenian genocide film going on over at the IMDB board that I've been following but not contributing to... here; http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0472044/board/threads/ sorry it's not a clickable link; I haven't worked out how to do those yet... edit. oh it is. wow...
  12. yeah Ashot; I know there are places in England doing stuff but they are all along way away from me and I'm agoraphobic, so I don't get out much:( I don't think I'll be able to see my candle from outside...the flame is pathetically small and my phone has a shitty camera. and I can't put the pics from it on my pc either...doh...
  13. Hi there Yervant... I have lit a candle, but it seems a bit feeble. One candle in the face of all that pain... I mean my friends and family are sympathetic, but they only get it in an intellectual way; they don't really feel it like I do, thanks for replying; I have been around; I just haven't had much to say
  14. So what all you guys doing? I'm just asking 'cos I have no-where to go round here...if you tell me what you're doing I can live vicarously through your experiences as opposed to sitting around drinking too much vodka and crying by myself, which is what I've done every year up 'till now actually that is what I'm doing now too, but at least I can come here to do it.....
  15. That was cool. For some reason, there's a village near me in Cornwall called 'St Blazey', named after St Blaise.
