  1. Thanks to all who took the time to reply. Cheers.
  2. Hi All, I'm hoping to get a translation, on a name please. My Father's English name is Michael. His Armenian name is Hamayag. (sp?) I know that Hamayag doesn't mean Michael, but I don't have a clue what it means. Neither does my Dad. His parents don't know either. Im hoping someone can please help as one little step to keeping my heiratage alive. As a side note, I've given my Children Armenian names. Kennedy has a name of Keiranoush Cole has a name of Boghos. Thanks all. Cheers.

    Moush History

Hey, this is great. Thanks for your help. Unfortunatley, I can't read Armenian. Can you please (or anyone) translate for me? Thanks for your help.

    Moush History

Hey Gang, I've dug, and dug, and seem to be getting nowhere. My family and I are Moushatsi, and I'm trying to get information on my family. Everyone has pretty much died, so I'm not sure where to turn. The story going around is that my family in Moush were powerful, possibly the Mayor, or some politician. Does anyone know where/if information (or records) would be kept? There has to be something, I mean we find records from 1000's of years ago from other countries, so here's hoping I can find something from 100-150 years ago. Can anyone point me in the correct direction? Thanks.

    Phonetics

Hey - there isn't an abundance of Armenians in the area. I had the idea of going to local community colleges or through the city to learn the language as a night course, but nothing is offered. Even tried to order some CDs through the local book store, but they weren't very good. Very difficult to understand.

    Phonetics

Hey Avo, No dice, did not find out what it means. Emailed everyone that I can get my hands on - even the site which hosts the graphic. I feel fairly confident in this being the crest of Moush, but can't say 100% for certain.

    Phonetics

Thanks for the help - but there is the problem. For those who can't speak it (namely me) - to post something every time I want to know - then that's a pain for those who can speak. I've tried a few times to learn to speak - but I've found Armenian to be very difficult to learn...Also- I'm not necessarily overly concerned about learning how to write and read - but every place that teaches it starts with you learning the alphabet, reading, writing etc...

Hey All, Does anyone know of an English - Armenian Phonetic dictionary (website) that I can access? The English - Armenian dictionary isn't too useful if one can't read or write Armenian. Thanks.

    Translation

Thanks for the assistance. Kennedy - the name can go both ways....In our case - it's a girl.

    Translation

Can someone please help me out with a translation? My wife and I just had a baby named "Kennedy". That being a Gaelic name, there is no way to translate it to Armenian. However - Kennedy translates (in English) to "Armored One" - with that being said how would one say "armored one" in Armenian? Thanks.

    Village Crests

Hello, Is anyone out there able to authenticate if this crest is legit? My family originate from Moush - and am looking to see if the crest actually is real. Also, does anyone know what colours it is? The pic is b/w. My avatar. Has anyone seen it before? Does it mean anything to anyone? Thanks, in advance.
