  2. You were right. They're through to the finals, against the US.
  3. Holland made it to the semi-finals. They'll be facing Hungary (to whom they lost in the first round..).
  4. I think it's time you started to accept that part of being Armenian is being diverse. We're not a uniform nation. Never were, never will be. Just like every other nation in the world.
  5. Okay, I did A. I'll leave B to someone else. 6. Hmm, the date of birth is wrong.. Here's the correct bio: http://results.beijing2008.cn/WRM/ENG/BIO/.../4/218024.shtml
  7. That's way too many to go through! If we each took a letter, it'd be doable. I caught another boxer, boxing for Russia. I think it was Arutiunyan, but I might be wrong.
  8. Here she is: On the bench (no. 4): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v225/nairih/OGBiurakn2.jpg In action: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v225/nairih/OGBiurakn4.jpg
  9. http://os2008.nos.nl/live/index/kanaal/ in case cbc.ca doesn't work, but it's live, so you'll have to get up on time to watch the games.. Ladies water polo again tomorrow, Holland-Greece (keep an eye out for No. 4).
  10. Yes, yes, yes!!! And figure skating in the winter sports. They already have the music and the coaches. All we need now are skaters!
  11. I just now watched a documentary on Dutch TV about Chinese children trained to become acrobats. I saw a similar documentary about two years ago. Still, it's only after watching the torture that many children have to endure in order to become top athletes that you begin to understand why the Chinese are doing so well during the Olympics. It's sad to see that humanity is gradually being stripped from us to reach the top of our fields. Apparently, in order to "make it," we need to turn into machines. Which brought the grim image of the Soviet Union to mind. We all know that our weightlifters are on dope: another one of the legacies of the Soviet Union.
  12. Don't forget to watch the Dutch women's waterpolo team. There's a nice surprise in there. August 11 is the first time they play. Also, does anyone know if there are other Armenians playing for other countries? Anyway, thank god for Dutch public TV and BBC.. No commercial breaks at all. Btw, I thought the countries came in order of how many strokes it takes to draw the first character of the name of the country.

This link probably belongs under Music, but since it has something to do with Narek, I thought I'd post it here. Enjoy (if you haven't already): http://www.classicalarchives.com/artists/papayan.html

What a scenario!! I love the "jan@ qor a galis," although not so nice when a parent says it: "Mite jand qor e galis? Qotak/Aptak es uzum?" Or "Mite qerm unes? Uzum es durs hanem?"

You could be right, and your interpretation does makes sense. Thanks for sharing.

My grandmother (who died last year) used to talk like this. She used to die on our everything: heart, hair, face, body, length, voice, name it.. Whenever she'd call me, she'd spend the first ten minutes listing all the things she would die on: boyid mernem, achqid mernem, janid mernem, srtid mernem, etc.

I'm assuming "shivan" is also not of Armenian origin. Here's another: լաց ու կոծ.
