    Stalin

yes, he handed them over to Azerbaijan. In fact, Stalin once wanted to merge Armenia with Georgia because of our low population number. He wanted to make us an autonomous province within the Georgian state.
  2. Yeah i know you didn't mean artsakh, me neither, i'm talking about Azerbaijan "proper". Anyway if we do get a "clean" nakhichevan back, we will need to boost our population alot, as we are under 3 million currently and that is bad when we are trying to get land back. A world body could easily say that they overpopulate us and removing them from that region will create a refugee problem. Yes but i'm just saying that if we keep them in nakhichevan, they might try and rebel using guerrilla tactics, whatever they think of us. We are hated in Azerbaijan, especially nationalists who wants all land back, Azeris would disagree with an Armenian on the most trivial things just for the sake of disagreeing with an Armenian.
  3. It sucks that ethnic cleansing has left 0 Armenians in Nakhichevan or else it would've been an interesting deal. Unless they all leave Nakhichevan, I wouldn't want it to be apart of Armenia. As you said, they would pull cecessionist shit but what's worse is that they would maybe be able to pull a guerrilla war against Armenians stationed there, killing soldiers etc, Iraq style, even though the Azeris are not as religious or nationalist as Iraqis. But then again, i'm not sure if i'd be ready to give up those provinces for nakhichevan...
  4. The Azeris have no sense of nationalism. Every Azeri knows deep down that Artsakh is not theirs, that is why they lost the war. They got owned badly by Artsakhian fedayis who fought using Azeri weapons as mentioned above. An Armenian soldier once said "We're tank rich! The Azeri government is arming two armies: theirs and ours!" - after the capture of an abandoned base. This pretty much sums up the war. We could've taken the trash (Baku) in two days if we had advanced...of course this would've cause a major international problem lol. Anyway, in the end I hope we don't get a Levon ter-petrossian copy president someday who will be ready to give up all our Gharapaghtsis fought for. No to defeatist governments, I say we should keep most of the Azeri provinces outside Gharapagh that we captured with the possible exception of the Fizuli province. I wouldn't mind if the government keeps it though lol.
  5. Azeris in Canada total 1500 people, Armenians in Canada total 45000 (minimum), who's gonna take these people seriously...the current Canadian government is pro-Armenian anyway.

    LMFAO GOOD POINT
  8. Ariane, you live in France...there are 500 000 Armenians there Go out and meet them in community centers, it's important to interact with other Armenians. Unity is the key. I live in Montreal, where the community of Armenians is about 40 000 (if not less) and we're all still together. In fact, you can't even swear in Armenian sometimes because the average Arab, Greek or even Quebecois will know it's Armenian! lolll Make your prescence known. Keep the culture alive. C'est pas tres difficile, tu as 499 999 d'autres Armenien et Armenienne a decouvrir.
  9. That's good news! I never knew/heard of so many schools in LA except Alex Pilibos. I just hope the modern Armenian family is willing to send their kids to these schools. But certainly, good news
  10. I was lucky enough to go to an Armenian school that goes from kindergarten to high school secondary five, the equivalent of 11th grade in the US (quebec system goes up to 11th and then you got to CEGEP, a form of college). And I can say that our primary language in and out of the school in between friends has always been Armenian, even though our Armenian can sometimes have a mix of various Turkish and Arabic words. The school is Ecole Armenienne Sourp Hagop...it has about 700 students, it's pretty big.
  11. Շահան, you drive a good point, կարդացի գրածներդ եւ շատ հետաքրքրական գտայ: Համացայն եմ ըսածներուդ որ Հայկական Սիոնիզմը շատ օգտակար կ՛ըլլար Հայ ժողովուդին եւ մշակոյդին, բաստը Հրէաներն են: IMO, ՀՅԴ-ն ամենէն մոտ "movement"-ն է որ գիչ մը մոտ է Սիոնիզմին: Ան ամեն ինչ կ՛ընէ որ ողջ պահէ Հայ մշակոյդը (at least in Montreal) եւ նաեւ շատ ծայրահեղ է, կ՛ուզէ ամեն ինչ մինչեւ "to the last crum", բան մը որ ես լաւ կը գտնեմ: Իր goalերը Սիոնիզմի շատ կ՛ըլմանի: Յամենայն դէպս, Լոս Անճէլս-ի կաշարակերութեան (corruption) օրինակդ ցոյց կու տայ որ քէշ կողմերըն ալ ունի կուսակցուդիւնը: Կը կարծեմ այս Դաշնակ, Հնչակ, Րամկաւար խնդիրները պիտի լուծուին նոր սերունդին հետ, քանի որ Եկեղեցիին մասին շատ մարդ հոգ չտար այս օրերուս որ դեր Կիլիկիոյ եւ Էջմիածնոյ մասին հոգ ընէ մէկը: Կուսակցուդիւնները նաեւ glue-ի դեր կը խաղայ as it reunites alot of Armenians together in the diaspora, which is something that is important in the survival of our culture, regardless of under what roof they are re-united. Personal msg me Shahan on what the different behaviours of Armenian "classes" are in LA if you don't wanna post em here...i'm quite curious, last time I visited LA, I was kinda young to notice this stuff . - Հայ Ֆէտայի
  12. a simple way you can differentiate Eastern Armenians from Western is the dialect they speak. I fouy speak eastern, you're eastern, same for west. But let's all forget this talk and unite
  13. not sure about that but alot of Armenians in Armenia moved there from Van after they were evacuated by the armenian volunteer units + russian forces during and after the Armenian Genocide.
  14. Yeah those numbers aren't correct because the Canadian census accepts "Armenian" as only those who speak it as a first language at home. I'd say about 80 000 as well. And daymn...i didn't know about the 100 Armenians in Yellowknife...wow. We truly are everywhere. I'ver heard there are 4 Armenians in Alaska (a family).
  15. We may not have the highest number of active troops (Azeris double us, Turks quadruple us) and not the most advanced munitions but think back to Karabakh. We fought w/ heart, with the help of diaspora and without any tanks. Azeris supplied us w/ their own weapons. Azeris had ukrainians, turks, azeri-iranians, and some russian help on their side. We had russia and the diaspora and we still managed to kick Azerbaijan out of Armenian land. Guys don't be too pessimisstic. We are the strongest army out of Georgia us and Azerbaijan. Plus Iran and Russia are good neighbours for now. We're doing good.
