I know its bad, but thats my currents stance (it will probably change after marriage). Armenian church- I am not much of a church-goer and have only so far read 1/3 of the Bible (I have read the childrens version several times when I was 10 ), but I believe Christianity and being Armenian are inter-twinned. If you are not Christian then you are not Armenian.If you value Christianity mainly for social or political influence, than you missed it. It went right over your head. The simple fact is this: there is no such thing as a "interracial marriage". That's because there is no such thing as a "pure race". Does anyone here really believe that they have no genes which did not come from Haik himself? Or that members of the Armenian nation never married outside their borders until the twentieth century? I have ancestors from many nations; Armenia, Germany, England, and America(pre-Columbian). I do not, however, refer to myself as "half this" or a "quarter that". I am one whole man, regardless of the genes that went into my cells. There is no doubt that I am a proud Armenian, I would not be on this forum otherwise, and I can tell you that Armenian culture and identity lives in me to a far greater extent than in some who claim "pure" ancestry. Culture is about who you are. Perhaps Americans, of which I am one, can apreciate this better than can most of the rest of the world. Here we have people of hundreds of nations who, without compromising the culture of their fathers and grandfathers, proudly ally themselves with their neighbors by calling themselves Americans. If anyone thinks that they are of pure race, it is only because they haven't traced their lineage back far enough to learn the truth. Those are very good points Alpha, but you'll never get most western Europeans to admit them. The idea that America is the most backwards abomination on the earth is constantly hammered into their heads by the schools and universities, even as our food, medical, and military aid is bailing out nation after nation around the world. It's easy for them to criticize our foreign policy as trying to police the world, but they sure didn't seem to mind us crushing Hitler for them. They also don't seem to mind that the technology that allows them to call themselves "industrialized nations" is almost all US invention. We have instead unfounded, unsupported, and obviously ludicrous statements like "the US is probably one of the biggest violators of human rights". Don't take this as bashing Europeans, there are plenty of people across the pond who appreciate America for the "good neighbor" that it is. It terrifies me to think what the world would be like today if the United States did not exist.

Like many of us, I live in an area where there is no duduk instuction available. I have searched the internet for a book which could get me started, but to no avail. I would be very pleased if someone could direct me to some pulication on beginning duduk. Thank you.
